A knock on the door brought her back to the present.Someone had managed to get up on her porch without her hearing them. That wasn’t normal but since she’d been kind of out of it for the last few days, it was understandable.Dagger was still in the back of the trailer, so she went to the door and looked out the small window beside it.A guy stood there, probably couldn’t be more than nineteen or twenty. She didn’t recognize him, but he wore a leather vest like Travis and Dagger did, so she opened the door.

“Can I help you?”she asked.

The man on her porch didn’t say anything, just leaned over and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder like a feed sack. She opened her mouth to scream, to let Dagger know something was wrong but the stranger bounced her on his shoulder, knocking the air from her lungs. In her new position, she could see his vest didn’t say Fallen Angels on the back like Travis and Daggers did, instead, it said Royal Crows. She didn’t know much about her brother’s world, but she knew that the Royal Crows were not friends of the Fallen Angels. No matter which way you sliced it, this couldn’t be good. But what would they want with her?

Before she could catch her breath again, the stranger had moved off her porch, carrying her with him.Her mind spun.Where were they going? What was he going to do to her?Would anyone care?Maybe she’d get to see Travis again sooner than she’d thought.

She grunted when her butt hit something hard as the guy in the Royal Crows vest dumped her off his shoulder into the open door of a van.She blinked, wondering what was going on, but before she could figure much out, pain radiated through her head, then the world went dark.

Chapter Ten

“Your turn,” Daggersaid as he returned to the living room, stopping when he reached the kitchen and looked around.

Andy was gone.

The front door stood open.

Had she gone outside for something? He couldn’t see why she would, but he went to the door to look for her, to see what she was up to.She wasn’t there. He frowned and went back inside. He checked her bedroom and found it empty. His chest tingled and the world seemed to spin as he turned back to the front door.

Where had she gone?

She wouldn’t have left the door open if she was going far.She had to be here somewhere, didn’t she?

Outside, her car was still parked at the end of the trailer where he’d parked it before when they’d arrived. He pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to remember if she’d said anything before he’d used the restroom. But all she’d said was that she could wait.Had someone come to the door?He thought he would have heard that but what if he was wrong? What if someone had shown up and taken her?But who would do that and where would they take her?

Dagger was still standing on the porch, wondering where Andy had gone and what was going on here, when a familiar pickup pulled up and parked sideways behind her car.He stepped off the porch, heading for the truck and Dax behind the wheel.

“Did you see anyone leaving as you pulled in?”Dagger asked, unable to keep the scowl from his face.

“There was a delivery van, but that’s all.”

“Did you catch where the van was from?”

Dax shook his head.“No, is something wrong?”

“Andy’s missing.”
