"Two someones, actually, although they come in one handy package. Abduct them and bring them to me."

Xil turned to the other males who were frantically working on their consoles, trying to keep the ship flying. "What do you think? I'm not making this decision alone."

"It's not like we have a choice," Havel grunted without turning away from the displays flickering in all sorts of alarming colours.

Matar nodded. "He's right. I'm not prepared to die today, so the only option is to do what she wants."

I hated to hear the resignation in his voice.

Xil looked at me. "What about you?"

"I'd hate to be responsible for abducting someone, but as long as she doesn't insist on them becoming your mates as well, it's the best bad option we have."

"Agreed." Xil turned to the screen, squaring his shoulders. "We accept."

Professor Katila swirled around, a satisfied grin on her face. Her third eye was half-lidded, but I wasn't sure what that meant. "Wonderful. I've given the command to stop shooting at your ship. I'll send over the details of your abductees shortly, although I understand if you have to return to KITT-Y-6 for repairs before your mission."

She blinked out, leaving me seething with indignation. Us having to repair the Jade was her fault. That bitch was going to pay for it.

At least she'd been true to her word. The shakes stopped, as did the blaring sirens.

"They're retreating," Matar reported.

Xil got up and swept his gaze over the screens. "Status report."

"Shields are at thirty percent. The hull has been damaged at several places, but the emergency insulation has worked and we have no actual holes. Katila was right though, we need to have repairs done before we can safely fly to wherever she wants us to."

The captain growled. "I'm going to rip out her heart as soon as I get the chance."

"How long are we going to need to stay at the station?" I asked. KITT-Y-6 held nothing but bad memories for me, with the exception of the Piki cakes and my little tribitt, of course. I should really check on him. In the heat of the moment, I'd forgotten about Lord Boop, but he must have been scared.

"Four, maybe five IG hours," Matar said. "I'll try and get it done as quickly as possible. Luckily the restaurant owner already transferred us that compensation payment, so we've got enough funds to pay for the express service. You can go do some more shopping or exploring, if you want, although I assume you don't want to."

"You're right, I have no desire to step foot on that klatting station again."

The guys stared at me, then laughed.

Xil got up and lifted me from my seat, swirling me around. "I love you."

If I'd known using one of their Kardarian expletives would make them so happy, I'd have done it earlier. Klatting was a pretty good word. I still preferred fucking, but from now on, I'd change my vocabulary to match that of my mates. It was strange to think that we weren't talking the same language even though we were mates. My body was covered in their colours, signifying our close bond, yet I knew maybe a handful of Kardarian words. It would probably be a good idea to learn their language at some point. I didn't even want to imagine what would happen if our translators failed. We wouldn't be able to communicate at all. I pushed that idea further up my list of priorities.

Xil kissed me and I could almost taste his relief of having resolved the situation without anyone getting hurt. I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight. I thought he needed comfort more than me at that moment. He'd almost lost his ship, his crew, his family, his life.

I kissed him back with renewed passion, pouring all my love into the kiss. He groaned and thrust his hips against mine, presenting his erection. Sadly, as much as I wanted some yay-we're-not-dead-sex, this wasn't the time. He knew that too. With one last brush of his tongue against mine, he let me go.

"I'll check on the tribitt," I muttered and left the bridge before I could change my mind and kiss them all.

To my surprise, Lord Boop was fast asleep. How did the little animal do that after we'd barely escaped certain death? My heart was still racing, and I couldn't imagine sleeping for the next few hours at the very least.

I gently stroked his fluffy forehead. His ears twitched, but he didn't wake up. I cooed over his cuteness, my heart filling with adoration. Slowly, the fear lessened and my breathing calmed. Pets really helped with stress, including alien ones.

I prepared some more food for him and left it in a bowl next to his bed, just in case he was peckish when he woke up. As much as I wanted to stay with the little space bunny for a while longer, the guys probably needed me. We had a lot to do in preparation for our upcoming abduction. A shudder ran down my back. I never thought I'd be involved in abducting someone. It had been done to me and even though everything turned out perfectly, I still didn't want another person to go through the same thing. I'd draw the line on probing this time. I wasn't going to let the guys probe some random alien. I was the only one they'd get to probe. Oh, the good old days...

Xil was aloneon the bridge.

"Matar is checking on the engines and Havel is making sure our computer didn't miss any damage," he said before I could ask about the others. That's how attuned we were to each other. He answered my unspoken questions. No, I wouldn't let anyone else get into our perfect relationship.

"Have you looked at Professor Katila's files yet?" I asked. "Who are we going to abduct?"
