I lick my lips. “Why?”

“Why, why, why…you want to know why?” he asks, sounding crazy.

“Yes.”

Biggy laughs maniacally. I watch as he sits in a chair across from the bed.

Quickly I catalog the room. There is wallpaper peeling from the wall and a water stain on the ceiling. There is a TV and dresser across from me and where I lie on the bed.

An old hotel or motel.

“Let me tell you a story. See, I’ve known your man for years. My home chapter is in Northern California. Back when I was first patched in, my club went on a road trip and we stopped in Vegas. Fang wasn’t even patched in yet, only a prospect. He didn’t know how to mind his own business yet. There wasthis honey who was teasin’ me all night. When it came time to take her back to my room, Fang,” he says, sneering his name, “stepped in. We got into a fight, and for some reason, I’m the one who got in trouble. Me!” He slams his hand against his chest as he breathes hard.

Holy shit.

If there is one thing I know, it’s that Biggy is lying, or at least partially. If I had to guess, he wouldn’t take no for a no and Fang stepped in.

“Then what happened?” I prompt him, needing him to keep talking.

Anything to buy time.

“What happened is that I got reprimanded and was told to hit the road while he earned himself a patch. My home chapter started treating me differently. Still does, in fact. I’ve been floating around, year after year, checking chapter after chapter to see where I could fit in. Then I find out that he’s here in Texas and has earned himself the title of road captain. Something he took away from me. I was on my way to having a title until he fucked it up. So I thought, why not come here? Show the pres here how fucked his current guy was and take his place.”

“How’d that work out for you?” I ask sarcastically before I could think better of it.

His jaw clenches and his hands ball into fists. I wait for him to get up and take his anger out on me, only he doesn’t.

“If I can’t have his position, I’ll have his girl,” he says darkly.

“What did I ever do to you?”

He shrugs. “You said no. Instead you chose him. Just like everyone else. He got the club, the position, and the girl.”

“So why take me?” I ask.

He sneers. “Because someone needed to teach him a lesson. Let him know that we don’t always get what we want in life.”

The way he says it makes me go cold.

“What are you going to do with me?”

“I haven’t decided yet. I could kill you, but that doesn’t seem like enough. Nah, that’s too easy. I’ll figure it out, though.” He hums, his eyes taking in my body.

As much as his words scare me, they also give me hope. He didn’t fully think this out. He acted on rage. He didn’t plot this, which is a point in my favor. I just need to keep him talking.

Please, please, let Fang know I’m missing. If not him, please let one of the others figure it out.

The last thing I want to do is die today. I have too much I want to do. I want to finish school, marry Fang, hell, maybe even have some of his babies, which is ironic because I never wanted to be a parent before him. It’s crazy how the right person can make you change your mind.

I only want to have babies with him. No one else.

The bed moves, bringing me into the present. I watch as Biggy crawls toward me.

“W-what are you doing?”

“It’s about time I sampled the goods, wouldn’t you say?” He smirks.

He cages me in against the bed, leaving me with no place to go. Tears leak down my face as I turn my head away from him.
