I finally found my home, and it’s not a place.
It’s him.
It’s been a long twenty-four hours. After Cami was all cleaned up, I took her to bed. She only slept a few hours because she wanted to get up.
It’s why I’m sitting here waiting for the meeting to start while she hangs out with Bailey and Viv.
“How is she?” Savage asks as soon as the meeting is called to order.
“A few cuts and bruises, but surprisingly okay. I think it took more of a mental toll on her,” I tell the group.
“Well, we are all taking shifts watching her until she feels safe again. We won’t let this happen again,” Tiny announces.
“You guys don’t have to do that,” I tell them, knowing I had already planned to watch her closely.
“It’s not for you. It’s for her. She deserves to know that she has the whole club at her back. We won’t let anyone fuck with her,” Loyal vehemently says.
I’m shocked by how upset he seems.
“It’s no one’s fault,” I tell him more than anyone. “We had no idea that Biggy would have gone this far. He’s been a club member as long as I have. He has never broken any rules. Sure, he was annoying and liked to push buttons, but there was no way of knowing that he would finally snap.”
Loyal scoffs. “I should have been watching him closer.”
“I should have been too,” Crank calls out.
“Me too,” Tiny adds.
“All of us should have. We were waiting for his thirty days to elapse, and that was our mistake,” Savage says above everyone. “We learned a valuable lesson. I truly am sorry it was at Cami’s expense, and I plan to apologize to her personally as soon as she’s feeling up to it.”
“She will tell you it’s not necessary,” I inform him.
“I’m still doing it.”
I nod, knowing there is no changing his mind.
“Let’s get this call over with,” Savage grumbles, dialing his phone as he places it in the middle of the table for everyone to hear.
“If you are calling me, it can’t be good news,” Mist says as he answers the phone.
“It’s not. Your boy went and did something extremely stupid,” I tell him.
He groans. “What did he do this time?”
“He ran an old lady off of the road, abducted her, and held her in a motel. I hope you know that he was dealt with swiftly and lethally,” Savage tells him.
We can hear a light curse in the background. It puts him in a bad spot. One of his members was killed by another chapter. Even if he was attempting to patch over, it doesn’t matter. He is still technically under Mist’s control.
“Do what you have to do, but I won’t apologize for it,” Savage tells him.
“Can you wait to spread the news? I’ll get a vote from my crew within the hour. It should keep the rumor mill at bay for both of us,” he says.
“We appreciate you being accommodating.”
Savage is such a diplomat. I guess that’s why he’s the president. I wouldn’t have been able to keep my cool with this. I’m mad that Mist sent him here to hurt my woman.
I keep my mouth shut, though.
“Usually, I would be pissed you went and did this without my blessing, but he has always been a fuckup. I can’t believe he was stupid enough to go after an old lady. Please extend my sincerest apologies to her and her man, and thank you for handling the trash.”
