What if he changes his mind?
I’m so glad I was able to get a single room. No one wanted it because they can barely move in it. That much is obvious as I take three steps then turn and repeat.
Five minutes to go, and there’s a knock on the door.
I swear my heart feels like it skips a beat.
He’s here.
Taking a deep breath, I go to open the door. What I find on the other side isn’t the man I’ve come to know.
No, this is someone else. It has to be. There is no way Fang can be this attractive.
I blink once and realize it’s still him.
He has his dark-brown hair styled messy like he always does. His beard is trimmed, making him look more clean-cut than normal. That’s not what has him looking different, though. It’s what he is wearing. I’m used to seeing him in stained jeans and T-shirts and combat boots. The boots are still there, but he is wearing dark blue jeans that look clean paired with a gray button-down shirt underneath his cut and leather jacket.
In his hands, he has a bouquet of beautiful flowers that match the ones I received on my birthday. I smile as I look at the orange and white flowers.
It’s so unlike what I thought he would be like. I expected a rough and rowdy biker, not a sweet and suave man.
“Did you get these from Blooms?” I ask.
“I did. Do you like them?” He holds them out.
I take them from him, holding them up to my nose.
“I do. You know I shouldn’t like flowers. They are temporary and a waste of money, but I’m finding that I really like the joy they bring me.”
He smiles. “Then I’m glad I bought them for you. I like knowing you will be joyful when you look at them. I’m glad I sprung for the vase too.”
I blush at his admission. “Let me just put them on my desk.”
I watch as he eyes my small room but doesn’t say anything. I appreciate him keeping his mouth shut. I don’t want to taint tonight.
I meet him back at the door. “How did you get up here anyway?”
He smirks. “A girl downstairs let me in.”
I shake my head. “Something about a bad boy, huh?” I ask, locking my door behind me before leading him down the hall.
“Do you like a bad boy?” he teases.
I don’t know why, but his teasing makes me relax, and my insecurities take a back seat. It reminds me that this is just how things are between us.
“I don’t know what I like. I’ve never given it much thought. I guess we will find out tonight.” I wink at him over my shoulder.
His hand finds the small of my back, making me shiver. “I’ll make sure the answer is yes then.”
When we get down to the lobby, one of my dorm mates is waiting, frowning when she sees his arm around me.
“I guess that’s the girl you charmed?” I ask.
He laughs. “Something like that. Don’t worry. I made sure she knew that I was here to pick someone special up. I guess she was hoping she still had a shot.”
I roll my eyes. “Such a hot commodity.”
“Better snag me quick then,” he whispers in my ear as we come to a stop by his bike. “I bought you a gift.”
