I put my hair up in a strategically messy bun on the top of my head. Then I grab the bandana and fold it. Once it’s just right, I tie it around my head. Leaving the knot of it on top of my head. After pinning it in place, I step back and smile. The hair makes me look like Rosie the Riveter but the all-leather outfit makes me look like a badass.
He’s going to love it, and I hope he likes the new dance too.
Ugh, the dance. While I like it and it’s fitting, I don’t love it. Hell, I don’t think I’ve ever been as over dancing as I am right now. If it weren’t for school, I would probably quit.
Fang’s told you that you can.
I won’t, though. I refuse to let him pay my way. Even if it is tempting as hell.
“Cami, you ready?” Happy asks.
“Yep.” I spin away from the mirror and walk toward him. “How do I look?”
“Like you’re going to give Fang a heart attack,” he says, smiling.
“Mission accomplished then,” I quip, making him laugh.
I study the man out of the corner of my eye. It hits me suddenly that I really don’t know him even though I spend most days with him following me around.
“So, Happy, you have anyone special in your life?”
He raises a brow. “Why do you ask?”
“I just feel like it’s something a friend should know.” I shrug.
“I’m working on it,” he mutters.
I clap my hands and walk sideways, facing him. “Oh, will you tell me about her?”
Happy rolls his eyes. “Maybe some other time.”
“You’re no fun,” I pout.
Turning I start walking straight. When we make it to the stage I see Fang talking to Danny.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” I ask.
He leans down and kisses me softly. “Fuck me, you look amazing. Run away with me.”
“You’re ridiculous, now answer my question.”
“Just wanted to tell you good luck.”
“Thank you.”
He leans in closer and whispers in my ear, “And I wanted to remind you to dance just for me, little dancer.”
“I will,” I murmur.
He kisses me one more time before he walks off.
“Phew, that guy’s fucking done for when it comes to you,” Danny says.
“Yeah, the feeling is mutual.”
The last dancer exits the stage.
“See you guys in four,” I say as I walk onto the stage.
