“Nah, baby, it’s all confidence, and let’s be real, if you didn’t love me, you wouldn’t let me touch you.”
She rolls her eyes but smiles.
“Are we good, though? Can we drop this shit of me keeping my distance while we’re here? Because I’ll be real, I don’t think I could do it. I’d try, but I know I’d fail.”
Cami nods. “It would be hard, but I don’t know what to do.”
“We’ll figure it out, little dancer. I promise.” I cup her cheek. “Now come on, how about we get out of here and head home?”
“I like the sound of that.”
I stand, my knees popping as I do. “Good, now come on. After that little stunt you pulled on stage, I have some plans for us.”
“You do?” She smirks as she places her hand in mine.
“I do. Namely feeling your scratches up and down my back.”
Cami tips her head back and laughs.
Worth it.
Do we have shit to figure out? Yeah, but that can come later. All I want to do is get my girl home in our bed and show her how much I love her until the sun rises.
My life feels surreal.
If you had asked me six months ago if I would actually feel happy, I would have told you that you were insane. Happiness was something so far outside my grasp that I never even bothered hoping for it.
I only wanted to not struggle.
Now, I find myself smiling more than not. I am in what I think is a loving relationship that actually has a future.
Life is good, and it scares me to death.
The rain is all but gone, but I know it won’t stay away. It never does, and with my luck, it’s going to be a hurricane when it comes back around.
Still, I want to enjoy the sunshine while I can.
It’s why I decided I’m not going to keep letting Jensen make the first move. I’m going to show him that I’m in this too.
As I exit the stage, Happy tilts his head at me as he offers me my robe.
“Why are you so happy?” he asks.
“No real reason. Do you by chance know where Fang is? I want to surprise him,” I tell him as he walks me back to the dressing room.
“He had a run tonight, but he will eventually end up at the clubhouse. You could go there and wait for him.”
“It won’t be a problem?” I ask.
He shakes his head. “You wore his mark, girl. You are always allowed at the clubhouse. Head on over. I’ll let the prospects know to expect you.”
I hug him suddenly, pulling away quickly. “Thanks, Happy.”
He rolls his eyes as I step into the dressing room. He turns his back, giving me privacy at least from him.
“One brother isn’t enough, huh?” Venus says under her breath.
I snort. “Careful, Venus. You’re turning a little green there.”
