I’m just saying. She was drunk enough to sing karaoke; she could’ve been drunk enough to have sex with the man she’s apparently dating. Also, side note, I need to know what songs you sang more than I need an iced coffee.

Please for the love of God tell us everything. Right now.

“Well, according to my siblings, you’re my boyfriend,” I say, pushing the phone aside. I know I need to straighten things out with them, but I can’t right now. I don’t have the energy for their antics. Not before this hangover has subsided.

“Okay then,” he says. “Maybe we do need to come up with a plan.”

We fall silent again, I assume both thinking of our next steps, but that doesn’t last long. Linc’s apartment door slams open, then shut, the sound echoing off the walls.

“Lincoln Kincaid! Where the hell are you, and what the fuck did you get into last night? And when did you get a girlfriend!”

“Fuck,” he groans, letting his head fall back as he pinches between his eyes.

My eyes are wide as I look back toward the sound of stomping heels clicking furiously down his hallway. I can’t see who it is yet, but it’s clearly a woman. And she’s clearly mad.

“Linc! Is that…do you have…Oh mylanta! Am I a fake mistress?”

He shakes his head. “No. Worse. She’s my publicist.”

“What the hell?”Katie yells as she marches into the kitchen. It takes her a second before she sees Ainsley, which earns us another scream. “What thehell? Why is she here?”

Dang. Three-ish swear words in less than thirty seconds. I really am in trouble. Which now has my mind wondering what kinds of pictures got posted from last night.

“Katie, there is actually a very easy explanation,” I say, trying to calm my publicist down while also doing my best to ease away the panicked look on Ainsley’s face. That also explains why her mouth is hanging open. Panic and shock means she’s not going to speak.

Dang, I might be a better boyfriend than I thought if I’m remembering that detail from last night.

“Oh, you better,” Katie says as she slides her iPad down to me. “Becausethisis what I woke up to this morning.”

Ainsley’s sitting to my left, half covering her eyes like she’s about to watch a murder scene in a scary movie. I inch closer to her, bringing the iPad between us.

“We’ll look at it together,” I whisper. “Last night was a tag-team effort. And so will today.”

She slowly moves her hands away from her eyes and gives me the most timid nod I’ve ever seen. “Together.”

I bring the iPad fully between us when the headline on some sports gossip blog is big, and bold, and honestly…only half wrong.

MORE TROUBLE, AND A NEW LOVE FOR NASHVILLE FURY’S LINC KINCAID

Linc Kincaid and mystery woman seen together at downtown bar. See pictures, and video, of the Fury tight end fighting over his newest lady.

Early verdict: Not as bad as the time with my first team when I was photographed leaving a mobster’s poker game in Vegas—I swear I didn’t know he was in the mob—but I’m guessing for someone like Ainsley, who apparently doesn’t drink but was taking shots like a champ last night, this is really, really, bad.

I feel like I’m scrolling forever through pictures and screenshots that Katie has put together. And it’s almost a chronological timeline of our night.

The photos start with when I first came over to her, when Dr. Dipshit was manhandling her. Someone even has the video of me jumping off the stage and stalking toward her table. Damn, I didn’t realize I was that intense in the moment.

The rest of the pictures look like we are a happy couple enjoying a night out. Cuddled up in the VIP section. A few of us kissing. I can’t help but smile when I see those, even though I know that’s not the response that Ainsley or Katie want to see from me. There are even videos of both of us singing.

But the video that has likely set Katie ablaze is from toward the end of the night, when Ainsley had to literally jump into my arms to stop me from laying Dipshit on his ass. I didn’t see thewhole interaction between them—as I was walking back to the VIP section I saw her fall and then I saw him put his hands on her. I saw the panic in her eyes when she realized it was him.
