“Caro mentioned that there was an issue with some of the labouring staff on the project?” Somehow Olivia dragged the nugget of information from her memory, as she tried to focus on the job in hand.
Brody nodded. “A bunch of chancers who wanted the money and not the work. I soon saw them off and got locals in instead. Carlos recommended a couple of guys he’d worked with before. We’re still a little behind where we should be right now, but with some overtime and a bit of luck on our side, we should be ready to open on time.
“That’s good, Caro will be pleased.”
“And now you’re here to check up on me every day, there won’t be any chance of slacking off.”
“I’m not here to check up on you.”
Brody laughed, a deep, sexy rumble that brought goose bumps to Olivia’s skin. “Of course you’re not, sweetheart. I’m sure you’re here simply because I like something pretty to look at.”
Olivia straightened her shoulders at his comment and tugged on the hem of her dress. She’d only just walked in on him and his girlfriend. She felt sorry for the woman. Not five minutes after being with her, Brody was flirting outrageously with someone else. Even though Brody Fox was certifiably hot, Olivia swore he wouldn’t affect her.
“I’m sure you have your hands full, what with your girlfriend popping in to see you at work.” She kept her tone as cool as the air conditioning.
“Valentina? She’s not my girlfriend.” Brody’s face broke into a smile. “She’d like to be though.”
What an arrogant pig. It took all of Olivia’s will not to speak the words aloud.
“I’m not sure her husband would be too keen on the idea though.”
Olivia’s mouth dropped open. “What?”
Brody winked at her. “I’m kidding. Well, actually I’m not. He’s not her husband yet, not for another few weeks.”
“You’re…” Olivia couldn’t even think of the words she wanted to say.
“Gorgeous, hot, sexy?” He laughed. “Look, sweetheart, you’re not going to be here long, so why don’t we get down to business? By that I mean actual business. Why don’t you tell me what Caro wants you to do?”
As she met Brody’s olive-green eyes, Olivia couldn’t help being distracted by what she’d seen earlier; the sight of his bare, naked arse, athletic thighs and the passion he had displayed towards Valentina. It wasn’t only the Mallorcan heat making her glow.
