“Only you and me then?” Caro held up her glass to Olivia.

“Why not? It’s not as if I have anything to rush home for.” Her sigh was deep.

Both Eva and Poppy hugged her and told her they were there if she needed them. Olivia was grateful for their support.

After Poppy and Eva left, and the waiter had brought them some more drinks, Caro turned the conversation back to Olivia’s predicament.

“What are you going to do about Nic? Do you want me to talk to him?”

While it was a lovely offer because Caro and Nic had been friends for years, the thought of someone else talking to him made her feel sick. She didn’t want him to think that she was broadcasting their troubles to the whole world. Troubles that he patently wasn’t aware of. If anything, he needed to hear it from her first.

“God, no!”

“Then what do you want to do about it?”

Olivia had been asking herself the same thing.

She honestly didn’t know.

All she did know was that three months was a long time.
