“I’d planned on seeing her tonight. Are you guys staying?”
Justin nodded. “Yeah, Lennon’s got the keys to her grandparents’ place, so we’ll be there tonight. Why don’t you guys come over?” He lifted his chin to Curtis. “You and Amber too. We can make a night of it.”
“Let me check if she’s okay with that.” I pulled out my phone.
Alex: Hey babe, did you have plans for tonight? Wanna do something? xxx
Georgie didn’t reply straight way. Not that it should have bothered me. I knew she could well be helping out Darcy in the shop or with something wedding related.
Curtis set up Call of Duty and we started playing, lost in the online world. My phone vibrated in my pocket, but I ignored it, too caught up in the mission we were involved in. Once I’d been shot — damn Curtis and his battle plans — I put down the controller and fished out my phone.
