I smile at myself in the mirror after I’m done strapping up my pink bridget slippers. I stare at it, wiggling my toes. Mi hope yuh nuh plan fi live in a this, my subconscious says. Ah bwoy.

When I’m done looking at myself I walk out and find my mother fixing Mama’s wig. Mama hot essi. “Mama a you that?” I exclaim, closing my door behind me.

They burst out in laughter. “Yes mi dear,” Mama says.

Mommy looks at me. “What a way you look good. No sah the two a unuh come out mon.” She’s smiling from ear to ear. “A cya out a my womb this yah pretty girl come from,” she puts her hands on her waist.

I smile. After all, I’m my mother’s daughter. The only thing is I get my father’s face features. That’s all. Other than that, mommy is my twin. Body shape, mannerisms. Everything.

Not feeling satisfied with my lips I apply more of my fenty ‘give it-to-me’ lipgloss. Riri’s products are top tier.

“Okay mi baby,” she says and I take out my phone. Mi wah know if Nickoi on him way.

The moment Zara starts calling me I know that she’s ready. Shit and mi nuh deh nowhere near har. Plus mi cya answer right away because I’m already on an important call with Rick.
