So, I can handle this.

As a killer I know how my opps work. If they were to find out how fond I am of her they’d use it against me. So lately I’ve been thinking deeplyabout her moving in with me. That way she’d be well protected. With a sigh my mind drifts to Gutta, thinking of calling him. I want him to find out who sent it. As much as ideas are spewing, I have to be absolutely certain.

Deh bwoy deh nah go hard fi find, a easy maths dat mi don, my subconscious says.

Mi know that mon.

One thing about me? I’m never worried. The first thing my father taught us was to never panic. I can vividly remember when we were sitting in his office

and he lit his spliff and said: “Wah yuh think mek people drown? When dem panic man. All you need fi do is breathe slowly and focus.” Words of wisdom.

“What are you thinking about?” Zara asks as she walks out of the bathroom.

“Mi just a member some childhood days,” I retort watching as she walks to the mirror.

“Okay..” She smiles, opening her closet. “Mi a go grocery shopping. What you doing today?” She asks, staring at me through the reflective glass.

Carlos. Mi a guh kill him, but mi nuh know wah mi a go do to the daughter.

“ Mi a go link mi Gee dem,” I lie.

“So, you can drop me off today? Mi a go tek taxi come back,” she says and I nod.

Mi affi go link Junior and deal with a car fi har enuh cause mi nuh want har a tek no taxi. Kinda risky fi mi. I want her to meet Thomas so he can give her some driving lessons.

“Nickoi yuh zone out again... wah do yuh?” Zara asks and I shake my head.

“Nothing nuh do mi mon,” I tell her before I take out my phone. I check WhatsApp and spot Juaqína’s message on the top.

‘What time you a come?’ It reads.

I type a message to her, letting her know that I’ll be there before 10 AM. She responds instantaneously with an ‘okay’.

The door opens and Zara’s mom looks in with a smile when she spots me. “Hey Nickoi,” she looks a little surprise.

“Morning,” I reply.

“Morning mommy mi a go a the supermarket you a come?” Zara asks.

“No enuh baby, mi affi go run a few errands today so mi nah go make it,” Ms. Michelle says.

“Okay is there anything you would want thou?” Zara questions.

“No sah just buy the usual stuff. I’m going to bathe now and get ready to leave,” she tells her before closing the door.

After waiting half an hour Zara finally says she’s ready. Jah Jah.

“Nickoi mi ready enuh mi just a put on some cologne,” she must’ve noticed my face expression.

“Ah,” I retort and watch as she sprays her body. “Yuh look cute,” I compliment and she spins around with a smile. Her curvy body in a bodysuit and some bridgets.

I lean my head back and drag my vape as I admire her. How she pull off such a simple look?

“Thank you baby,” she smiles sweetly before she tells me that her mom sent them for her last year. She loves clothes, I’ll make a note of that.

“Okay Mami,” I say and she starts blushing. “Yuh love that thou?” I look down at her. She’s so short. I don’t think she pass 5’3. She pushes me playfully as she tries to hide her face.

“Yuh love it when mi call yuh Mami?” I bite my lip looking at her. She starts smiling hard.
