“Tek off the blindfold?” I ask and he chuckles.

“Not yet” I groan walking along side him.

He finally stops. My heart starts beating really fast. It feels as if I’m bout to pass out. Mi nuh know wah fi expect at this point.

He removes the blindfold and I keep my eyes screwed shut. “Mi nuh badda waah see.”

“Open yuh eyes now nuh mami.”

I slowly open my eyes, peeking through my birthday fusion set to see that we are standing in front of a private jet. Then, I notice that I’m standing on a Fuschia pink carpet that leads to the steps of the plane. Pink and silver helium balloons cling to the handle of the plane’s door.

A deafening scream escapes my mouth, completely surprised by all this! I mean, I’ve traveled before but never in style like this! You a gwaan like Michelle never expose yuh to traveling.

Without thinking twice, I jumped into his arms, planting kisses of gratitude all over his face. “OMG babbbeeeeeeee. Thank youuu!”

“Nickoi where are we goingggg!?” I ask, practically bouncing. He smiles at my antics. His brother and Gutta strolls out of the jet.

“Gi’ dem some space,” Junior announces before they walk away. I stare up at him waiting to hear what he’s going to say.

“So this did come to mi zeen like mi did wah do sup’m different fi you and mi ask you mother where yuh always wah go and she did a tell mi Parisbut she neva’ sound sure yuh zi mi, so mi link Gavin and him tell mi Hon—” Can’t be..

I swallow to dispel the lump forming in my throat, “Oh my God,” I choke out, completely at a loss for words.

“Wah mi a say is him tell me Honolulu and mi neva’ know deh so, so mi do some research and come up with an itinerary.”

I’m in shock... I always tell myself that I’d try my best to fulfil this dream when I reach 26 and Nickoi makes this so easy for me. Damn...

“I’m only 22, and this was on my bucket list since I was 16... I thought I’d wait until 26 when I could afford it, and you just made it happen. Thank you, Nickoi,” my voice quivers with emotion.

“Doh cry,” his hands drops to my waist.

“Sorry mi cya help it,” I use the back of my hand to wipe the tears. Awwww.

I wrap my arms around him and whip out my phone to capture the moment. “I love you,” I say in the video, and he plants a sweet peck on my cheek. I press on instagram, about to hit post, but he stops me.

“Wah yaw guh do, post that?”

“Yea, why?” it’s soft with a tinge of attitude.

“Neva’ post real time yer?” I click off soon as he says that. “B yuh ‘affi undastand how the streets run, especially when yuh deh wid a man like me.”

“Okay, I understand. I’ll just post it tomorrow.”

The moment we board the jet, my mouth gapes at the decorations. From the rose gold glitter banner with ‘Happy Birthday Zara’, to the matching balloons, flowers and custom champagne bottles with my name, I’m in complete awe.

I look up at Nickoi with the widest smile on my face. “Babeee, Thank youuuu!” I tip toe, barely reaching his lips. “Chro... you’re so tall. Come nuhhh,” I whine, wrapping my arms around his neck as he leans in.

The cabin crew sings the happy birthday song to me, wishing me a great day before they place their gifts down. I thank them then get settled. We’re about to take off. Ugh. I’ve always hated this part. As the pilot starts talking I lay my head on Nickoi’s shoulder, swiping through the pictures we took earlier. A slim flight attendant comes to us—well, I mean Nickoi because she didn’t acknowledge me. I decided to give him his space as promised, so I focused on the view instead of eavesdropping.Clap har...

“You want Moscato?” his deep voice vibrates against my neck.

“Why not?”

“Nah give you back no liquor fi now man cas you a light head,” he jokes. We both lean down, laughing.

“Leave me alone mon,” I blush, looking back at the view. “How long it aguh take?” my eyes drops to the time. It’s 11 AM.

“It ago be long... how long dem say it a tek again?” Nickoi’s eyes shifts to Gutta.
