I tense at the thought that they intentionally hid this from me, preparing to fire them immediately and ruin their lives for keeping her from me.

“Don’t youdare!” Confusion graces her features, “I know that look, you’re planning to fire them and ruin them, aren’t you?”

“How do you know that? Can you read my mind now or something?” I grumble.

A soft laugh leaves her. “No, Blaze. I just knowyou. Besides, they sent the message because they copied me in on it, probably because they know you too.”

She places a kiss on my nose.

“We were sure you would read it. I followed the plan that we agreed.”

“No. No, you fucking didn’t! That was not how that was meant to go down and you know it,” I growl as my fingers squeeze her thighs.

“I mean, yeah, it kinda deviated in the middle there, I’ll give you that. But I had to improvise in the moment—we weren’t going to get out of there alive otherwise. I saw the look in my father’s eyes, Blaze. He was going to kill us both.” She sighs at the memory.

“So, you risked your life to give us a shot at getting out of there, proceeded to kill your fatherandblow up the sunroom? Are you fucking nuts?”

Now I’m gripping her face in my hands, trying to find all the answers as if they’re written on her features.

“Yes, I’m crazy baby but that’s beside the point. I risked it all to giveyouthe chance to get out of there alive. He’d already taken enough from you. Enough fromme.I wasn’t going to let him take you from me too. I love you, so much that I was willing to let you go. And you did, I was so fucking happy thatyou, you got out Blaze. And for the record. I didn’t kill him, just severely maimed him.”

“You did that, forme?”

I kiss her and the feel of her lips on mine has the broken pieces of my heart slowly stitching back together.

“Say it again.”

“I love you, Blaze.”

Another kiss, longer this time until the rest of her words register.

“Wait, you didn’t kill your dad?” My eyes flick between hers.

“No, that wasn’t our plan, remember. I— You truly haven’t heard anything have you?”

I shake my head, the anger at myself returning for burying my head in the sand. I could have been searching for her all this time.

“I couldn’t see past the fact that you were dead, well, that I thought you were. I didn’t, it didn’t feel important anymore when I thought you were gone.”

“Fuck, Blaze. It breaks my heart that you put yourself through this.”

“And I’d do it again because nothing else matters to me but you. I never expected to fall back in love with you after all the years we’d been apart, but I don’t regret it. I could never regretyou. My only regret is that I hurt you. Even if you spend the rest of your life hating me for every single thing I’ve done to you, I’ll take it if it means you’re still walking this earth in my lifetime.”

It’s her turn to kiss me and its pure desperation, an apology, and a promise. Her tongue runs along the seam of mine seeking entrance and I let her in. I let her take everything she wants and needs from me. We pull back, breaths heaving as my cock thickens underneath her.

“I don’t hate you. I couldneverhate you, Blaze. I’d have done the same thing if the roles were reversed.”

“I’ve missed you so fucking much, love.”

“I’ve missed you too, baby.”

The urge to tear her clothes off and sink into her is overwhelming, but we have to get everything laid out in the open first. If she still wants me after that, I’ll finally believe in the great divine.

“So, what happened, when you were in that room alone with him? I tried to get back to you as soon as I could.”

She explains everything to me, every word she said and every bit of pain she inflicted on him. Pride shines in my eyes at the power she took back from that fucker.

“See, I told you I’d gone fucking crazy!” she giggles.
