“Oh, you should have seen your faces!” She wipes tears from her eyes as another laugh threatens to break free. “I’ve never seen anyone more scared in my life.”

Nico braces his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath while I glare at the short woman with split-dye hair before me. She’s the one that came with Valeska to the crime scene. Maybe this time I’ll find out her name, and then I’ll cuss her out for fucking with us.

“Sunny, if you’re done scaring our guests to death, would you mind bringing them in?”

I whirl at the sound of Valeska’s voice, my eyes yearning to see her again as my brain scolds me for it. I find her at the end of the long hall, backlit by the warm glow of the room behind her. My feet move of their own accord and I march in her direction, partly to say something that’ll piss her off, but mostly to soothe the ache of it being a few days since I saw her.

I’m in front of her in no time, having left Nico with the woman I now know is called Sunny, where my heart left my body. I open my mouth to say something demeaning but stop short.

She is breathtaking.

Her long black hair is piled atop her head in a messy updo, her hair curled as it spills out in random places. I’m overcome with the need to twist the pieces framing her face around my finger, to tug it and see how her body responds.

Her face is painted in immaculate makeup, and I’m once again drawn to those cherry-red lips, but tonight they aren’t shiny. They’re matte, not a single reflection of light catching on them. They look like velvet, and I want to know if they feel the same.

I want to claim them, claimher.

“Mon cauchemar, this better not be?—”

I cut myself off as I take in the rest of her. Everything else disappears until all I see is her and this fucking dress, or is it jewellery? There’s not a scrap of fabric in sight, only carefully placed diamantes that hide the parts of her I’m dying to see. By how they hang together, I can make out the pattern of a spider’s web and again I’m left to wonder who this woman is.

“Hello to you too. Come in, mon chéri, get comfortable while we wait for those two to join us.”

She sounds like a soothing lullaby, and I do as she asks, not bothering to look back and check on Nico. She makes me lose track of my surroundings, of time. I’m out of control when I’m around her. It’s terrifying.

It’s exhilarating.

She closes the door and walks ahead of me to the large desk that faces outward. The only light is coming from the massive ornate fireplace to the left of us, making her frame cast shadows onto the walls. They stretch and morph, turning her shadow intoa monster. I tear my eyes away, not trusting myself to not see things after such a fright. I keep my focus on her.

As if I even have a choice.

All the blood in my body rushes south as I get the full view of her from behind; the centre line of the web runs from the base of her spine to mid-calf, resting between her firm, round cheeks. I’m behind her before I can think it through, my fingers digging into her hips hard enough to leave impressions from the stones of her dress. I bring my mouth to her ear before I can tell myself it’s a bad idea.

“Are you trying to kill me, mon cauchemar? How dare you wear this scrap of a dress, knowing you were going to see me and that I’d be with my partner.” I release a hand and trace my fingers lightly over her shoulder, down her bare back and the seam running between her ass before I palm a cheek. I run the tip of my nose up her throat until my mouth is close to her ear as I speak low. “You’re making me want to do bad things to you right now, and I do bad things very well.”

I push my hips into her so she feels how hard I am. I can’t even bring myself to fight this. I need a release from the intense throbbing of my cock. She pushes back into me and I move my hands over her hips, ghosting her stomach as the stones scratch at my hands.

I’m about to cup her breasts when she turns away from me. I mourn the loss as she rests her hands on the desk behind her. With the grace of a ballerina, she raises one sparkly heeled foot to my chest and pushes me back until she’s guided me into the chair behind me.

I can’t resist the flick of my eyes to see if she’s revealed her sweet pussy to me, the memory of how she tastes, dancing across my tongue. Disappointment floods through me that it’s too dark to see her, the light from the fire causing a shadow at the apex of her thighs.

“Look at you, mon chéri, desperate for me already. Unfortunately, we have business to attend to and we’re not alone.”

Valeska’s foot is barely back on the ground when the door opens and I hear Nico and Sunny enter the room. I hear the woman babbling away about music with gasps from my partner and ‘same.’ Looks like they’ve become fast friends.

“Take a seat, you two, we need to get started.”

Nico plops beside me and Sunny rounds the desk, sitting in the chair. Valeska stays standing to the left of the desk and in front of me. I guess the dress is not that comfortable to sit in—or she wants to be close to me.

I’m going insane.

“So, when will Lilith get here?” Nico asks.

I have a suspicion we’re looking at her.

I’m right.

“I’m Lilith, petite fille.”
