I yelped as Myer slapped my ass before getting out of bed.“Remember that when it’s our anniversary.”
Rolling over to get comfortable, I said, “Keep it up, and there won’t be an anniversary to remember.”
“Too late,” he called back from the bathroom.“You’re stuck with me.”
A few seconds later, I felt Myer get back into bed, and when he anchored his arm around my waist to pull me next to him, I couldn’t help but smile contently. While the sex was great, this was the part that really mattered, and this was the part that I had missed the most.
“Goodnight, baby,” he muttered in my hair, his big spoon the perfect size for my little spoon.
“Goodnight,” I replied, the first of many more.
Epilogue
Calista – (Six MonthsLater)~
Seriously, how many curses were you allowed to put on one person?
I shook my head as I thought about the rotten fruit basket on my doorstep earlier, and the only good thing was that I no longer had to throw them away in secret. It also hadn’t been worth calling the police as Louise was finally moving away, and she couldn’t leave fast enough for my liking.
Luckily, after Myer and I had filed our formal complaint against Louise, we hadn’t seen much of her, and neither of us had seen hide nor hair of Jury Patton, either. Now, were they still all together?I had no idea, and I didn’t care.I had more important things to deal with in my life than Louise Mackrell.
The timing of Myer coming into my life had also become a nonfactor when Mitchell and Abrielle had decided to actually elope.Mitchell’s father had made an innocent remark about the music choice, and that’d been enough for my poor brother-in-law.He had cleared his schedule, forced Abrielle to clear hers, then had absconded to Las Vegas for the weekend, coming back happily married.
As for Myer’s brother, he and his fiancé were scheduled to get married after the birth of their baby, and I was going to be Myer’s official plus-one for the occasion. The wedding was going to be a small one, but from what I understood, it’s what Whitney wanted, and Zachary was all about what she wanted these days.
“Do I need to call the fire department?”Myer asked as he banged on the bathroom door.“Lunch is ready, woman.”
Yeah, lunch was going to have to wait.
Having taken care of business and washing my hands almost ten minutes ago, I opened the door to find Myer scowling down at me.“You okay?”
“I guess that depends on your definition of okay,” I replied as I handed him the stick with the plus sign on it.
Myer’s green eyes widened as realization dawned, the pregnancy test beginning to tremble in his hands.“Is this ours?”
“No,” I deadpanned.“I dug it out of the dumpster at work to prank you.”
