Chapter 32

“I’ve got to use the restroom,” Luna said as they finished up breakfast.

The second she slipped away from the table and was out of hearing range, Nikolai said, “We’re keeping her.”

Kobe grunted in agreement.

Bastille replied, “We already planned on keeping her.”

“No. I mean, we are keeping her for us—not due to some feud between you and the dragon,” Nikolai said.

Bastille pressed his lips together in a thin line but nodded.

“When she hot-wired that bike…” Sly sighed. “I don’t know if my dick has ever been that hard before.”

Bastille rolled his eyes.

“I’m serious.”

“She is…” Nikolai dragged a fang over his plush bottom lip. “Fascinating. Not at all what I expected for the mate of the kings.”

Bastille nodded slowly. “She is not a typical prey.”

“But sheisa prey,” Nikolai reminded him. “She’s weak and prone to…notimmortality.”

“Prey are worse than humans in life expectancy,” Sly added, causing Kobe to stiffen and scowl. “Humans are delicate, yeah. But prey are delicate andhuntedbecause of how rare they are.”

Through a mouthful of bacon, Kobe promised, “Will protect her.”

“She’d be easier to protect if we made her less…prey.”

“What are you suggesting?” Bastille asked.

“Nik’s a vamp,” Sly said. “He could turn her into a predator like us. She’d be stronger. More protected. Less—”

“Fragile?”

“Yeah.”

Sly was not wrong. The men had immortality, but Luna? Nope.

But to turn her into a predator—to change her species—that was something drastic. She could end up hating them for changing her, even if they did it for her own protection.

“Shit, she could literally trip in the bathroom and crack her head open.” Sly painted the scene. “She could be washing her hands and slip and just…die.”

They all flinched.

At hearing Sly’s morbid imagination, Kobe shot up from his seat—abandoning his food—and jogged to the women’s restroom to check on her.

“Great job,” Nikolai commented sarcastically as Kobe entered the women’s bathroom to search for his mate. “Now Kobe is going to give some little old lady a heart attack.”

Then, came the sound of Kobe’s roar.

The alphas staggered up from the table, shoving at each other as they rushed after him.

Upon entering the small women’s restroom, they realized Luna was gone.

“She…left us.” Bastille’s throat hurt. “She ran?”
