“Is that what you need?” he asked, stepping closer to her, forcing her to drop her hand from her hip and straighten her stance. “Is it the big tongue you need, or would a big cock do the job?” He lowered his voice, and if I wasn’t passionately in love with Trent, my panties would have exploded when he said, “‘Cause I’ve got both and I know how to use them, little warrior.”

Her mouth opened but no words came out as Jagger leaned over, whispering something in her ear. I’d never seen Jackie blush, but whatever he said to her had her face practically glowing. Without another word, he turned and walked back inside, leaving Jackie stunned silent and me amused.

“I’ve . . . I’ve gotta go. I’ll call Dad on my way home.”

“Your phone is dead, remember?” I reminded her, and she gave me a confused look before nodding.

A moment later, Jagger walked out with a car charger for her phone. He handed it to Jackie then walked back inside without a word while she just stared at his ass as he left. Snapping my fingers in front of her face, I brought her back to the present and out of her smutty fantasies.

“Are you okay?” I asked with a smile, and she nodded silently.

I hugged her, and she walked down the stairs and to her car, every so often looking through the screen door. I waved to her with a chuckle. “Drive safe.”

“Okay,” she said, cranking her car and pulling away.

I watched until her car disappeared from view, then I walked inside to find Jagger. He was sitting with Trent, who seemed furious, and I decided whatever question I was about to ask could wait.

“What happened?”

Trent’s hard eyes met mine, and I nearly collapsed when he replied, “Jameson told me Blur is off limits, and if we want to keep the Royal Bastards patch and support, we’ll let this drop.”

That was not what I was expecting him to say, and I honestly didn’t know how to respond. The Bastards had been our family for decades, and to have them turn a blind eye to Blur’s actions, which could be directly tied to Nitro’s death, meant that some of the bylaws were meant for others but not for him.

And that could be the worst thing imaginable.

Chapter 20

Trent

Iunderstood being an asshole. Hell, most days I was an asshole to everyone but my ol’ lady. But to be told that the death of my father, possibly at the hands of a brother, was something I couldn’t seek vengeance for, I physically saw red. Whatever secret or deal Blur had with Jameson, or a brother in his chapter, was keeping me from killing the man who killed not only my father but our chapter president.

That’s something that shouldn’t be allowed to stand, and when I hung up the phone, Jagger looked at me with confusion and rage. And when he spoke, I knew he’d realized the same thing I had. “What the fuck was that? He’s telling you to back down from taking out the fucker who killed Nitro, and you’re supposed to be an obedient lapdog? I say fuck that and fuck him.”

“Saying something like that can get you killed, Jagger, even if you are right,” I warned and added, “Go make sure Jackie gets on the road. I need to make another call.”

His eyes met mine as he stood from the chair. “Whatever you decide, I’ve got your six.”

He walked out and the Royal Bastards patch on the back of his cut stared me in the face. I sat down and rested my head in my hands, knowing there was a hard decision to make. Needing advice, I called the one brother in the club who may have been able to make some sense of National’s refusal to help us.

Standing, I glanced out the window and saw Jagger saying something to Jackie that made her blush. Shaking my head attheir crazy antics, I dialed the number and waited for him to pick up. “What’s up?”

“Assemble Church for tonight,” I said, hearing shuffling through the phone.

“Care to fill me in?” Phantom asked.

“National said Blur’s off limits. Call the brothers, everyone who rides under our patch, and tell them to be at the clubhouse for Church at eight. No ol’ ladies, no sweet butts, no hanger-ons. And if they have an excuse, tell them to turn their patch in by noon tomorrow or I’ll come and take it from them the hard way.” I paused and added, “Understood?”

“I got it. See you at eight.” Just before I disconnected the call, I heard him say, “I ride with you, Roughstock.”

The call disconnected as Jagger walked back into the kitchen and grabbed his phone charger from his leather bag. He turned and walked out, only to return a few minutes later.

“What did Phantom say?” he asked, and I shook my head.

“He’s in,” I replied as I heard Jackie’s car crank from outside.

Cheyenne walked in and immediately knew something was wrong. We’d known each other for so long, she was entuned to my moods. She simply asked, “What’s wrong?”

I cut my eyes to her, relaying the rage building inside. “Jameson told me Blur is off limits, and if we want to keep the Royal Bastards patch and support, we’ll let this drop.”
