“Fuck you, asshole. This is all on you,” Jackie returned, and I saw a fire igniting in her that made my dick lurch. “You were the one who decided kidnapping women and selling them for money was the right thing to do, so anything that happens to you is your own fucking fault.”

“Careful, little warrior,” I whispered, not wanting her to piss him off to the point he’d hurt the woman.

“I want a way out of here, or I swear, I’ll kill her,” he threatened as he pushed to his knees, forcing the woman to shield him.

He stumbled to his feet as he pulled the woman against his front with the knife pressed to the side of her neck. He licked her cheek, and she shivered and cried more as he leered at Jackie.

“I should’ve taken you when I had the chance. I had a buyer all lined up for you, but fucking Nitro had to get nosy,” Blur spat as he shifted, trying to keep concealed behind the woman.

She was terrified as Blur kept shifting, trying to get closer to the wrecked cars. Something told me he was looking for a way out, but there was no way he was escaping his reckoning from us. He’d killed our former president, and he was going to pay.

“Let the girl go and we can talk about this,” Roughstock reasoned, and Blur laughed at him, causing me to see red.

“There’s no way I’m gonna trust you to not attack as soon as you have the girl. I know you, boy, and you’re no president. You don’t have the balls to come after me. Not with National watching my back,” Blur chided.

Roughstock turned around so Blur could see his cut before he turned back to face him. “I told Jamison and the Royal Bastards to go fuck themselves, so your threats and protection mean nothing here.”

“You’re lying. There’s no way you’d patch over and piss off the Bastards.”

I laughed and explained, “I don’t think you understand, you stupid fucker. We’re no longer the Royal Bastards. We patched over six months ago to the Sinners Revenge, after you decided to use your family to hide behind.”

“How . . . how do you know about that?” he asked, and I could tell reality was starting to hit him hard.

“All it took was a little digging to find out your bio mom was bailed out by Jamison’s father’s first cousin. I’m assuming he’s your father, or maybe another one of Jamison’s kin. Either way, you’re in North Dakota, motherfucker. New Orleans is a long way from here, and I don’t see any Bastards here to save your sorry ass,” Roughstock warned, and Blur began to deflate.

None of us made a move closer to him, but when his arm began to lower as the woman moved her head to the side, something flew past me and lodged in his shoulder.

“Fuck,” Blur yelled as he dropped the knife to hold his injury.

The woman ran straight to us, and Jackie caught her as we rushed to secure Blur. The knife Cheyenne gave to Jackie was sticking out of his shoulder, buried to the hilt, and when I looked up, Jackie was checking out the woman for injuries.

Roughstock and Phantom punched Blur a few times as Animal and I secured his arms with zip-ties. Hoisting him back to his feet, he began to bargain with us, knowing his life was going to end soon.

“I can tell you where the women are,” he tried to bargain, only for the woman to yell over at him.

“He’s a liar. Everyone he took is already dead, so don’t believe a thing he says to you.”

“Shut up, Laura,” Blur warned, and I punched him in the stomach, causing him to double over as Jackie led the woman away from us.

“You don’t have to kill me,” Blur pleaded.

Roughstock leaned closer to him and lowered his voice as he replied, “And you didn’t have to kill my father, but you did, so it’s time for justice.”

“I have information you want . . . about the Bastards,” he tried to say, only for Phantom to punch him in the mouth, causing blood to pour from his lips.

“Jagger,” Jackie said, and I turned and walked to her and Laura, “Laura said there are two women being held here.”

“Where are they?” I asked, and she pointed to the cars.

“There’s a hatch in the front of the green truck. It leads to an underground bunker, and that’s where he put them day before yesterday,” she said through tremors.

“I need to get her something to drink. Do you think it would be okay if I take her inside while you deal with everything out here?” Jackie asked.

“That should be fine,” I returned and watched them walk up to the dilapidated trailer and climb the wonky stairs before disappearing inside.

Blur was still running his mouth, trying to talk his way out of his imminent death when I returned. Grabbing the handle of the knife, I twisted it and said, “You have one chance to be honest. Where are the two women you took a few days ago?”

“What women?” he yelled, and I twisted the knife harder, feeling tendons and muscle tear under the sharp blade.
