*Wwwwoooooomm wooooommm wooooooomm*
I look up when I hear the strange sound to see Hawk waving his corn toy around like a sword. Jax smiles and starts copying him, sword fighting with the vegetables like renaissance knights.
“Only the Dark side can rule the force!” Jax says in a grainy voice as he lunges in Hawk’s direction, almost hitting him in the head with the carrot.
“Help me, Obi Wan Cole-Obi! You’re our only hope!” Hawk says in a high-pitched voice. He tosses a chili pepper in Cole’s direction but Cole pockets his hands at the last minute , angling his body away from the flying vegetable. The distraction allows Jax to thrust his carrot into Hawk’s chest.
Defeated and frustrated, Hawk puts his arms up, halting their sword fighting. “What the hell, Cole?! How are we gonna defeat the Dark side if you don’t join the Jedi Order and fight against the Sith?”
“I’m going to leave the sword play to the...," Cole smirks at both of them, licking his lips, "trained professionals and remain fully in support of the Rebel Alliance, thank you.”
I’m… confused. Is this a Star Trek thing?
Hawk walks out into the hallway where the chili pepper bounced off the floor and landed. He picks it up and brings it back, offering it to Cole. “Here, take your light saber and let’s do this.”
Cole laughs under his breath. “Um… no. I’m good. You guys have fun, though,” he says, laughing even harder.
What crawled up his butt and gave him the giggles?
Ok, looks like I’m going to need to get some answers because I’m thoroughly lost in translation.
“Alright… what am I missing, here?” Standing in the middle of the guys, I turn in a circle. When I see Hawk and Jax just as confused as I am, I turn completely around, imploring Cole with my puppy dog eyes.
“Those aren’t…. um…” He can’t seem to stop laughing but after taking another minute to compose himself, he’s finally able to speak. “Oh shit. Ok. Heh. Those are dildos.” He points to the vegetables in Hawk and Jax’s hands, waiting for their reaction.
Hawk squints his eyes. Words seem to have left his mind until… “No…” He shakes his head as he walks over to the far wall and points to a picture of a very adorable, very elderly couple, then back at the corn in his hand. His face, covered with disgust, follows the movement. “No….”
Jax lifts his carrot closer to his face and inspects it. His jaw drops when he pulls a piece of hair off it and promptly throws it as far away from himself as possible. It just so happens to hit Hawk in the cheek.
“OH MY FUCKING GRANNY TACOS!”
“Nope, that’s in here,” Cole says as he uses a hanger to lift another toy that is, in fact, in the shape of a taco… and vibrates.
“SON OF A BITCH!”
Hawk tackles Cole who, then, falls back onto Jax and together they all start wrestling. I move my happy, laughing ass away from the melee and over to the other side of the room, trying to avoid their playful dog pile. The three of them get more and more aggressive with their play fighting when , suddenly, the floor shudders beneath us.
*GROOOOOAAAAN*
*CREEEEAAAAAK*
“Stop...” No one listens. They just keep punching each other, laughing as they roll around on the old, dilapidated wood, unknowingly compromising the floors integrity.
*CRACK*
“STOP!” I yell, finally getting their attention, but not needing to, when the whole floor drops about five inches towards the middle, caving in the center.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Nobody move,” Jax says, his arms splayed out in warning. Both Hawk and Cole heed his words and freeze where they are. Jax unravels himself from the others and plants his feet softly on the ground, lifting himself up to stand. He looks over at me but in the next second, before he’s able to say anything else, the floor falls away and everything goes black.
Chapter 17
Jax
“Jax! Hawk! Cole! Can you hear me? Are you ok?”
The distant feminine yells echo around the dark room as I cough dust out of my lungs and groan as my back cracks back into place.
“Ohhhh, I’m getting too old for this shit…,” Cole groans from my right side. I reach my arm out for him and touch his chest. His hands find mine, clasping, letting me know he’s ok. But where’re Aly and Hawk?
