“Her?” Pointing to me, Octavia’s face twists in anger and hatred. “This…thing?” She snarls. “This baby vampire, so weak and pathetic. You’re rejecting me forthat?”
Her face turns red, her body heaving as if waves of fury are consuming her.
“Ilovedyou!” Octavia shouts at Ryker. “You were theone. The only one who loved me before I had power. The one who loved me forme.” She slams her fist into her chest and her voice breaks.
My heart breaks for her too. I want to soothe her. To tell her that I will love her forever. That I’ll do anything she wants.
I know it’s some kind of magic, a spell twisting my mind. A spell that doesn’t seem to impact Ryker, or perhaps she has not yet directed it his way.
“Take my life.” Zuben falls to his knees in front of her. “Spare the others and take me!”
She looks at Zuben, like she’d forgotten he was here. She snaps her fingers and a guard hustles to her side. She makes another sign and the guard aims his crossbow directly at Zuben’s heart.
“I’d prefer to keep you alive. Even though you’ve found nothing, your research continues to beusefulto me,” she says to Zuben. “But one move and that bolt will be in your heart.”
“If you spare the others,” Zuben pleads. “I will continue my research, night and day. I promise you, I will find a way for you to walk in the light.”
“I am done with your lies!” Octavia shouts. She flicks her wrist and a guard stuffs what looks like chain mail into Zuben’s mouth. It burns his lips. It’s silver.
“I am bored with these games. Hand me a stake!” Three of her guards rush to her side, holding out their weapons like offerings to a goddess. Their complete obedience is astounding and I wonder if they’re under the same spell that I feel.
But… I realize that her spell has now released me. Either she let me go on purpose, or I’ve found some way to fight it off. The first theory seems more plausible. She no longer cares to control me.
“Seize Ryker!” Octavia shouts. “And bring the baby vampire to me.” More guards pour into the cave, all dressed the same, and Ryker struggles to hold me. One of the guards presses a wooden stake against my chest.
They think I’m a vampire, but vampire or human, a stake driven into my heart would kill me.
Ryker lets go, and my body shifts toward the guard tugging my arm.
“Fine,” he says. “Just don’t kill her.”
“Oh, I have afarbetter idea than killing her.” Octavia keeps her eyes on Ryker.
I struggle against the grips of the vampires holding me, but it’s futile.
Octavia walks toward me, pure evil in her eyes now, and I can’t believe I ever found their piercing gaze alluring. Leaning in, she sniffs me, and then abruptly leans back.
“You’re human!” Her shock disappears, and a cruel smile paints her face. “Evenbetter. You won’t heal when he tears you in half. That will save us a stake.”
“Big one,” Octavia gestures toward Axe. “Come.”
Axe moves forward, awkwardly, clearly fighting the spell.
Grabbing his cock she strokes it vigorously, and I gasp as it grows even bigger in her hands, far too big for her fingers.
“Bend her over,” Octavia shouts and the guards shift positions, forcing my torso forward. “The big one is going to fuck her. Fuck her cunt hard, until blood gushes down her legs and then do the same to her ass.”
She turns to Ryker. “I want to see her suffer the way I once did, and I wantyouto watch it.”
“Octavia, no!” Ryker shouts.
“You think you have the right to commandme?” She rolls her eyes at him, and then glares. “I may not be able to wield my power of obedience over you, but I will give you a demonstration of how I command others. I will make you pay for rejecting me.”
“I’ll come back to you,” Ryker says. “Tavi, please. I’ll be your mate. Just like you wanted. Please.”
Something flashes in her eyes, and I wonder for a moment if she’s going to take Ryker up on his offer, but then they narrow again.
“Do you think I stillwantyou?” she asks. “After youhumiliatedme? Do you think I can ever trust you again?”
