“Axe, I want to feel your thick, hard cock inside of me.”
His hand pulls out, and he falls away from me.
My feet strike the floor, my shoulders straining at the unexpected pressure of gravity’s tug.
“I’m sorry,” he says, his voice strained. “I shouldn’t have…I can’t.”
I hear a splash, and then realize…
Axe has left me here. Alone. Tied up in the dark.
Chapter Six
Ryker
Sittingon the edge of the pool, I close my eyes and kick my legs in the water, trying to imagine I’m somewhere else—anywhere else—somewhere I’m not held captive. But my normally active imagination is failing me, just like it has every time I’ve been trapped.
When Ember first went into the water, I stayed tuned to her, but once I knew she was safely on the other side of the waterfall with Axe, once things turned personal over there, I stopped listening. Vampires can eavesdrop, but it’s fucking rude and invasive. And if she’s got something going on with that bear…listening would make me the worst kind of perv.
So now I’m left with a choice between my own racing thoughts or talking to the robot, and the robot is starting to seem like a good option.
Fuck, perhaps Zuben can distract me from my threatening panic.
I turn, and he puts a log on the fire.
“Why waste wood?” I ask, getting to my feet to walk toward him. “You cold?”
“Keeping the fire going is not a waste of our resources. Ember will return from behind the waterfall, and when she does, she will be cold and hungry. The fire will be prepared to serve both of those needs.”
“I think the bear is serving her needs at the moment.” I raise my eyebrows a few times.
Zuben shifts one of the logs a half an inch, like that’ll make a difference. But it does, and the fire sparks to life.
“Have you been listening to them?” he asks me without looking up. “Is that what you were doing while you were sitting at the edge of the pool?”
“Listening to what?” I know exactly what he means, but it’s fun to play with the guy.
He stands, brushing non-existent ash off this suit pants. “To Ember.” He looks at me like I’m a fool. “She got caught under the waterfall, but freed herself, and then the bear man—”
I hold up my hands. “I know, I know. He’s fucking her.”
Zuben’s eyes widen. “He is? That is surprising to me.”
“You stopped listening too?”
He shrugs. “I have been applying all my attention to our main dilemma.”
“Which is?”
“Finding a way out of this place.”
My heart rate accelerates. “Oh, that.” I cock up one shoulder, as if being trapped in here is the last thing on my mind.
“You do not seem very concerned.” Zuben straightens one of the furs, which apparently wasn’t microscopically aligned with the others.
“You come up with any ideas?” I ask as casually as I can, but feel the telltale tightening of my chest, the tingling in my hands.
If I don’t calm the fuck down, I’m going to have another panic attack. And I’d rather have my dick caught in a vise than show more weakness to Zuben.
