Zuben nods stiffly. “I have weighed all our options. And while it does carry risk, turning her is our best course of action.”
I shake my head, feeling the bear rise again. “You two get the fuck out of here if you want.” I glare between them. “Ember and I will be happy in here without you.”
They glare right back at me.
“Or stay if you like. But I will not let you kill her.” I’d happily live forever in this cave, even if I have to share Ember’s love with these other two men.

“I can swim out every few months. Hunt. Bring back food for her. And firewood. Ifshecan’t leave here then I won’t either.”
Zuben tugs at the cuffs of his shirt. “As I have already explained, ad nauseam, turning her is by far our best option.”
