“And if I want you there as much as you wanted me to go to your brother’s wedding?” She straddled him, releasing her bra, covering her breasts with her hands.

This was the first time he’d had a strong emotional connection to a woman. The few ladies he’d been in a long-term relationship with never consumed his thoughts the way Tamsyn had. Perhaps his family was right about Tamsyn. Even when they avoided each other in public after she accused his mother of possibly harming his, they still chatted in text. Sometimes it had been heated because he’d been pissed. But in the end, he understood all Tamsyn wanted were answers she thought his family had.

“Then I’ll go.” Gently, he traced a finger from her belly button, up to the center of her chest, batting her hands away.

Tamsyn had to be the most beautiful woman he’d ever met and not just on the outside. She had a tough exterior. She had to, considering the way some people treated her in this town. He understood that. It was one of the things that had bonded them together as children.

They had hidden their friendship because they had to, much like they had hidden their relationship.

She’d learned to have a thick skin and to take things on the chin. She did her best not to let the good citizens of Candlewood Falls rattle her confidence, though occasionally, he saw it slip.

But on the inside, Tamsyn was sweet. Kind. Genuine. And honest. What you saw was what you got.

She leaned forward, kissing his lips tenderly. “Thank you.”

“We’re in this together.” He cupped the back of her neck, drawing her close, needing to feel her skin against his. Knowing they were out in the open made being with her different. It made it real. The fire growing in his heart exploded like a bomb. The intense heat raced through his system, igniting every cell.

He flipped her to her back, kissing his way across her neck, licking her sweet skin, tasting every inch he could. He sucked on one nipple, then the other, in a desperate need to fill her every desire.

A loud hunger filled his soul.

Tugging at her panties, he pulled them to her ankles. She protected the streets, making sure everyone in Candlewood Falls was safe.

He wanted to be the person who took care of her, tending to her needs, wants, and being the man she turned to when she needed a strong shoulder.

“Oh my God.” She threaded her fingers through his hair, clutching tightly. “You’re too good at this.” Her soft moans echoed in his ears, encouraging him to bring her over the edge.

But he wanted to savor her a little while longer. To tease her. To bring her there slowly.

“Yes. Please, Noir.” She raised her hips, rolling them against his mouth. “I need this.”

He caved to her wishes. In that moment, he knew he’d do anything she wanted. He’d been lost, and she guided him home. She showed him a pathway to a life with his family, and she stood by his side the whole time, even when she shouldn’t have.

She tensed, grabbing the sheets, balling them in her hands. She jerked, shaking her head, moaning, “Yes, yes.”

Her climax filled his mouth. But he didn’t relent. He continued lapping, teasing her, bringing on a second one that was just as powerful as the first.

“You’ve got to stop.” She pulled his hair.

He chuckled. “You didn’t want to go for a third?” He pressed his lips firmly on her stomach.

She gasped for air. “I think I’m good, but now it’s your turn.” She smiled wickedly, giving him a good shove, rolling him to his back. Wasting no time, she curled her fingers around his length, stroking gently, gradually increasing the pressure.

Tugging at her hair tie, he released her long, dark hair. He ran his fingers through the strands, pooling it on the top of her head.

He hissed when she licked her lips and brought her mouth to the tip, taking him in slowly. He could barely fill his lungs with oxygen as he watched her give him the most exquisite pleasure. This wasn’t just sex. It was so much more. A quiet fear lodged in his throat. He couldn’t honestly say he’d ever been in love before. He’d cared for his past girlfriend, but never enough to want to spend every waking—and sleeping—moment with them.

“Come here,” he whispered.

She climbed on top, easing him into her warm body.

Gripping her hips, he steadied her, holding her intense gaze. He stared into her beautiful, loving eyes, searching for the same emotions that had filled his heart with the power of a rocket punching through the atmosphere.

Her chest rose and fell with every short, choppy breath she took. Her lips parted, and she gasped at the unspoken words that needed to be expressed.

Reaching up, he fanned his thumb across her cheek. “Are you as scared as I am?”

“Terrified.”
