CHAPTER 6
Can you hear me?
A female voice echoed in Chad’s ears. He’d been staring at the sun trying to peek through the dirty window pane for the last twenty minutes while holding a sleeping Savanah in his arms. Her blond hair pooled over his chest. Her arms and legs tangled across his body.
Who is this?he asked. The only person he’d ever been able to talk to through his mind had been Savanah, and this voice was deeper than hers, besides she lay blissfully snoozing next to him.
Willow. Savanah’s sister.
What the hell? Talk about weird. He’d met Willow a couple of times in passing when he’d spent the night at Savanah’s place when they’d been dating. The only one of Savanah’s sister’s he’d bumped into. Willow shared Savanah’s dark sense of humor. Willow also had a weird obsession for guns.
What the fuck are you doing inside my head?
I’m sorry. Is this a bad time?
Anytime is a bad time,he projected toward the voice in his head. What do you want?
Alexis is on her way. Brett and Hazel are traveling with her.
How is Alexis holding up?Chad compared his visions regarding Alexis and Hunter, noting a few distinct differences. If they were accurate, Alexis was experiencing something stronger and deeper than the torture Hunter experienced. Not that what Hunter endured wasn’t horrific all by itself, but Chad got the impression that her physical pain and convulsions that Chad had experienced in a premonition went beyond Hunter and his need to be healed.
She’s a trooper, but whoever is using her powers remotely is tapping her energy levels dry. She’s weak, barely able to get out of bed and in a lot of pain.
I’ve had a few visions of her and Hunter, but I’m not sure he’s the only one tapping into her healing powers.
Why do you say that?Willow asked.
The visions don’t match up completely.
They often don’t,Willow said. They land at two in the afternoon your time. We have them booked at the Marriot in downtown Seoul, but if you want to move them closer, that’s fine.
Thanks,he projected back.
You’re welcome. And Chad?
Yeah?
If you break my sister’s heart again, it will be a bullet heading in the direction of the crown jewels over a candle. Understood?
He chuckled.Good bye, Willow.
“What’s so funny?” Savanah’s lips brushed against his chest as she arched her back, her breasts molding with his muscles.
“Willow just woke me up.”
“Me, too,” Savanah said. “She’s talking to me now.”
“Tell her to go away.” He kissed Savanah’s temple, wrapping his arms around her warm body. He had no intention of breaking her heart again. A rainbow of colors filled his mind.Normally he’d push the vision, doing everything he could think of to ignore the strong pull to dig deeper. He’d learned to dull the visions, so he could barely see them. Now he focused on the content forming in his mind, hoping to see more detail of whatever could happen in the future and the same time praying it wouldn’t be bad.
Savanah running through the jungle snapped into view. He was only two paces behind, but he couldn’t tell if they were running from something, or to something. He squeezed his eyes closed trying sense what he could be feeling in the vision. He noted an elevated heart rate, but that would have been from the speed at which his feet moved. He didn’t sense fear, but he did detect an urgency to get somewhere fast.
A building began to form a couple hundred yards away. It might have been concrete, but it was blurry and came in and out of view. A hologram type image of Willow appeared in the distance. She was waving and calling to them.
A black cloud floated down from the sky, covering the vision.
He blinked his eyes open.
“What did you see?” Savanah asked.
