Why the fuck am I at the end?

Niko

Because B is an ugly letter.

Ben

Yeah, like Z is any better.

Just as Elijah returned with our food and set it on the bed, I showed him the group messages, trying to hide my laughter. He grabbed his phone, and a new response popped up.

Elijah

You’re ugly, Ben. Z is beautiful.

Ben

Yeah, whatever. Where’s my Pakhan? Who’s this lovesick man? I’m sick of it.

I kissed Zanae this morning and went straight to my car, but the tranquility of my morning, however, was fucking destroyed by a phone call of one of my men, Ivan. My features hardened absorbing the information. He said that there’s a threat looming in the underground world, a reward offered to anyone capable of eliminating Zanae Dellé.

Despite my goddamn warnings, someone had dared to test my limits. “Who’s behind this, Ivan?”

Ivan hesitated before saying, “Elias Dellé, he’s the one behind this,” he admitted.

Elias Dellé put a threat on his daughter.

Protectiveness was an instinct in my case with Zanae. It was a powerful and primal rush of adrenaline that sharpens the body and the mind to act, urging me to eliminate any threat to someone I care deeply for.

It took hold of me in that moment
