He added, “Me too!”
Lifting my eyes from my laptop, I find her looking back at me.
It’s reassuring to see your own reflection in someone’s eyes, someone who loves you.

The jet flew high through the sky, and the panoramic view from the window was stunning.
The clouds below fascinated me, the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen was seeing light coming, although it was dark in our city.
Such a magical contrast. My mind felt so much lighter here, in the sky.
“This is so pretty.”
Niko, immersed in his laptop, offered me a playful smile. “Yeah it is..”
“Are you glued to your screen Niko?” I teased.
He grinned and shook his head, “Work, Little Z, fucking work.”
“Such a workaholic.” I chuckled, turning to Elijah who joined us after ending a call.
“What are you two laughing about?” he asked.
“I was just teasing Niko about being a workaholic,” I explained.
“And I reminded her that our work pays for the luxuries we’re enjoying,” Niko added, turning to me. “Also, your man is a worse workaholic than I am.”

I could see the terror in Niko’s eyes. The exaggerated retching sounds he made also hinted that it was truly horrible.
Elijah shook his head in disapproval, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the disgust in Niko’s eyes. “I wanted to cry,” he added.
Little by little, the weight on my shoulders felt lighter, and the screams in my mind grew quieter, almost inaudible.
I’m not like this, I never was, I was not born weak. I was Zanae Dellé.
I couldn’t let them win; they weren’t stronger than me.
I had survived so much more; I couldn’t lose myself now.
Elijah shifted in his seat, glancing at me subtly. “How do you feel?”
Leaning in with a soft smile, I replied, “Good, you’re making me feel good,” and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, feeling his concern melt away.
Niko made a face of mock disgust. “Ugh, please spare me from your lovey-dovey moments,”
