“So we aren’t going to do anything about the cameras? It’s been over twenty-four hours. We need to do something.”

I walk over to him and punch him in the face.

“I said shut the fuck up! You already interrupted me with Harmony last night. Don’t give me another reason to knock you the fuck out.” I shout.

He stumbles back, touching his bloodied lip. Rage brewing in his eyes.

“You’re going to get yourself fucking killed. And I won’t be there to fucking save you,” he spits. His words put a chink in my armor, but it repairs quickly.

Fuck him if he thinks I need him. I could have saved myself that day. He didn’t even give me the chance.

He storms out of the office.

He will go back to my house and watch TV while he blows off steam. He’ll be fine.

I focus my attention back on Harmony. Why the fuck did she stop fighting with me?

She used to struggle. She used to beg me to stop. Now? Now she just takes whatever I dish out to her.

I need to give her something to fucking fight for.

I arrive back at the house, checking the cameras before I go inside. Harmony is on her phone in the guest room. The stupid bitch sits next to her on the guest bed. The TV is on, playing some stupid scary movie.

Reese isn’t here. Weird.

I get out of my car and storm towards the house. I slam the door closed behind me, and I take heavy steps down the hall.

Harmony steps out of the room with a smile on her face. The kind of smile that screams fake.

I smack her across the face. Fucking hard.

She grabs her cheek, which must be stinging with pain.

She looks at me with watery eyes.

“W-what did I do?” She asks quietly.

I step into her, tilting her chin up.

“It isn’t what you did. It’s what you didn’t do.”

She looks at me with a pleading expression. There she is.

“Give me your phone,” I say.

“W-what? Why?” She panics.

I grip her cheeks tightly between my fingers.

“Because I fucking said so,” I say through gritted teeth.

She nods quickly. Handing her phone over from her back pocket.

I hold the phone up to her face, disabling her locked screen. Then I go to settings and turn off her pass code.

“Go to bed.”
