I keep sucking, pulling her into my mouth. Owning her as her whimpers grow and her body shakes faster. “Alexius!”

“Begging now, love? So soon?” I growl, pulling back slightly. My stubble hits the side of her thighs as my tongue licks her clit in small, gentle strokes.

“I’m so close,” she hums, her feet curling into my back as she thrusts against my face.

I keep my rhythm light, my tongue feather-soft, stroking her clit. I don’t cave. I don’t give in. If she wants it, she’s going to have to ask for it.

“God damn it, Alexius! I’m begging you,” she screams, bringing a smile to my face.

“Good girl,” I growl and push my tongue back into her. She’s close, teetering on the edge, and I’m relentless, sucking with greed, wanting to push her over.

Succumbing, her fingers fly into my hair and she holds on tight as her legs shake, squeezing against my head, screaming my name into the night. She’s trembling, losing herself to the touch of my mouth, rocking her orgasm into me as I devour every last sweet drop of her.

She stills, keeping her eyes closed with her legs wrapped around my neck when reality sinks in. That was a huge fucking mistake.

“Oh my God, that was—” She doesn’t finish her sentence as I pry her legs off me and push myself away from her.

Nora sits up quickly, wrapping her arms around herself. She’s intuitive, realizing quickly that I put my armor back on. “Well, thanks for the taste, love. Not what I expected.” I shrug, giving her a single wink before turning and walking away, feeling like the ass I am.

As I reach the door, I adjust my cock and stop myself from glancing back. She’s more than I expected and if I don’t step away, the danger surrounding me could destroy her. My world is no place for someone as pure as her.

“You have some chocolate on your face,” Daemyn states as I walk through the door, his body perched on the counter, anger in his eyes. He definitely heard us.Fuck it.

“Yeah, I changed my mind. I have a new favorite flavor. No more vanilla in this house,” I tell him, teasing with the truth as I pass him by, heading up for a cold shower.

The jets of water pelting against my skin cool my nerves down, but Daemyn doesn’t let it last long before he comes crashing into the bathroom. “What the fuck are you doing, Alexius?” he shouts, pissed. Daemyn is one of those gods who rarely ever is, but when he does get to that level, you’ve earned his wrath. Tonight, I won’t even argue it.

“I don’t know, man,” I huff, turning off the water. “I was trying to calm her down. Then the way she looked at me, I lost it.” I step out, grabbing the towel off the rack, with Daemyn staring right at me. His arms are crossed and the blaze in his eyes is telling me he won’t back down. “She’s going to be a problem, Daemyn.”

He leans back against the wall and raises his eyebrows in question, “Going to be a problem? Nora has been an issue for you since you laid eyes on her. We didn’t even leave the falls before you started eye-fucking her.” He rolls his eyes and continues, “Now you’re being just plain stupid.”

Frustrated, I walk into my room and put on my clothes forcefully. We’ve got enough problems to deal with. Adding blue eyes and brown hair to distract me is the last thing we need. “I know! I’ll work on it, Daemyn. Shit like tonight won’t happen again.”

“Alexius, I’m not talking about—”

“I told you it will not happen again,” I grind out through my teeth, ending that part of the conversation. “You were out tonight. How are we with the Underworld?”

“Seriously, that’s it?” He shakes his head in annoyance when I ignore him and follows me out the door, back down to the kitchen.

“Adriane is safe. At least for the time being. Jax has eyes on her,” he says and I sigh, grabbing the mug of ambrosia I left next to the sink and looking out the back window. Jax better be keeping an eye on her. Nora can’t lose another person.

“She’s not out there. After your ass disappeared, she went to her room, embarrassed.” Irritated that he knows me so well, I shrug his hand off my shoulder and throw my mug into the sink. I don’t need this shit.

“Where are you going?” He follows on my heels after I shove past him, heading to the front door.

“Anywhere. We need space,” I spit out, turning the handle.

Enraged, his hand reaches forward, slamming the door shut. “Go sulk or whatever you have to, but do it while protecting her. Get to the Literature Hall. Bury your ass in the ancient passages,” he hisses with fury lining his voice before slamming his fist against the door. “She’s not a fucking flavor of the month. She’s not one of your nymphs. Don’t play games with her.”

My lips twitch and I ball my fingers into fists, suppressing the urge to strike. I don’t play games and he knows it. We’ve fucked around a lot. Nymphs are good for that type of shit. Nora, though, she’s different. And since when does he think so poor of me? “She’s not—” The sound of her door opening silences my words.

“Whatever, man. Just get your shit together,” Daemyn throws over his shoulder as he rushes up the stairs, towards the girl I should have enough guts to go to. Instead I step out, closing the door behind me, cutting off any idea of explainingmyself to her. What’s done is done. In time, I might regret this. She deserves better.

I take a deep breath, cracking my neck from side to side, and turn another page in this ancient book. Back until a few centuries ago, a group of nymphs were assigned the task of recording new dictation into the sacred pages. Gods would speak about their journeys, praising their own power along the voyages they took, and each word was accounted for, put down onto paper. That is, until the council decided this was an ancient, unnecessary practice. They must have realized that recording your secrets makes you vulnerable.

A creak in the corner grabs my attention and I pop out of the chair, making my way down the aisle of books. The Literature Hall is a small room holding shelves of scrolls and passages spanning back centuries. It’s lit by a single window, making it hard to see. It’s a dark corner in Zeus’ Hall, and experience has shown me that no one ever visits.
