I press against Carter's hard chest to get him off of me but he doesn't budge. The scowl on his face says he's not ready to be apart from me just yet.

"We need a game plan for your mom. She has no clothes, no toiletries. I assume she'll be in my room for awhile? I told her this morning that I'm in love with you three, but I don't know how cool she's going to be watching us play musical beds."

"You love us?" Luca gasps, clutching his imaginary pearls.

I roll my eyes at his antics. "You know that I do."

Gabe pushes Carter, trying to get him off me. "Dude, quit hogging my girl."

"She'smygirl." Carter growls back.

"I'm all of your girls." I chide. "But I think we should do something really special for her. Like mani pedis? A massage? A fancy dinner? Something to celebrate the next phase of her life."

Carter kisses me then, holding the sides of my head delicately in his massive hands. "Fuck, you're perfect. You know that?"

I giggle, pushing back against him again. He finally relents and lets me sit up.

"Let's do it. Gabe, get us reservations at a nice restaraunt that allows kids. Luca, get us all reservations at a spa for mani pedis and a massage." Carter says.

"And what do I do?" I ask.

"I'm going to give you my credit card, and you're going to take my mom shopping. Lauren knows of a boutique where all the WAGs shop for fancy shit. I'll text her."

I give him a quick peck on his lips before getting up. I'm so excited to spoil Nancy the way she's meant to be spoiled. Finally!

"While you guys are shopping, I'll start looking for a place for her. Hopefully some place nearby. It'll be nice to get you some help with Annie."

I frown a little. Does he think I need help with Annie? She's literally the easiest child I've ever met. Being with her is a joy. He squeezes my wrist, pulling me out of my train of thought.

"It'll be nice for her to have sleepovers with her Nana, so that when we fuck you, you can finally scream the walls down." I blush hard. I'm sure my cheeks are an embarrassing shade of red. My pulsequickens and I squeeze my thighs together. Carter's dark laugh sends a full body shiver through me. He tugs me back into his lap and kisses me dizzy. Before standing me back up.

"But first, we spoil my mom." He says before slapping my ass, causing me to squeak.

Chapter thirty-eight

Gabe

Yesterday, Emily took Nancy clothes shopping, we all went for mani/pedis, and even little Annie got her toes painted. It was a challenge for the nail tech, considering Annie didn't sit still longer than a few seconds, but all of the women at the salon fawned over her, commenting on her pretty blonde hair and chubby cheeks. Annie ate up the attention.

We went for a nice dinner out and by the end of the day everyone was exhausted and content. Emily spent the night with Carter, but we need to fix that. I'm planning on buying a bigger bed so we can all spend the night with her.

Today, Emily's acting sketchy. She's been side-eying me since we got back from morning skate. We have practice tonight, too, but coach let us go home to rest in between. Most of the boys will be napping, but I've never been able to sleep during the middle of the day. Luca, however, is already passed out in his room.

Nancy and Carter are out looking at a nearby rental while Annie naps in Emily's room. Emily, however, is keeping herself distracted with busy work, avoiding me.

Well, we can't have that, can we?

Finally, she passes me while I'm sitting on the couch, and I grab her wrist and tug her to my lap. I want to take advantage of the one-on-one time we have together. I want to kiss her, bury myself in her, worship her, but something's off and I need to know what it is first.

She's avoiding my eye contact. I take her chin in my hand and force her to look at me. "What's got you acting all squirrely, Princess?"

She signs, resigned.

"I bought you something. But now I think it's stupid." Her eyes look so worried and sad. What could she have possibly bought me that would make her like this?

"Well, let me see it. I'll decide if it's stupid or not." I would never actually tell her if it was stupid. I don't care what she buys me or doesn't buy me. My girl deserves to be happy. And I'm going to do everything in my power to make that happen.

She reluctantly scrambles off of my lap and tip toes into her bedroom. She comes back holding a goalie helmet. I chuckle and shake my head. I don't know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn't that.
