Youwerein my dream, Cora.
The sea, the cliff… “Is that a real place?”
His hazel eyes warmed. It was my favorite place. I wish I could take you there.
I set my cup down and reached across the bed to stroke his wolfy face. His fur was warm from the sun and slipped through my fingers like silk. What would it be like to rub up against him, skin to fur?
Cora…His tone was thick, and his desire vibrated in my chest, twining with mine.
I shut down the thought. “Sorry.”
Don’t be.
Our gazes locked for a long beat. I needed to look away, to change the subject before his gaze melted me. “I don’t see why you can’t.”
He looked confused.
“Go to the sea? We should grab the Rover and go.”
His eyes lit up and then dimmed. There’s no time for breaks. Too much to do here.
Damn it, he was right. “Afterwards, then. Once Jasper and Conah bring Elijah back. Once Wren is…okay. We leave. We go. The four of us.”
The Sons of Adam won’t find us there.
Excitement simmered in my chest. “No, they won’t.”
When I looked at him now, I didn’t see a wolf, I saw a man. A golden-haired man with smiling hazel eyes flecked with gold. In my mind’s eye, he was frowning slightly as he mulled things over, working out the pros and cons of leaving. My fingers went to my lips as I recalled the kiss we’d shared.
We can do it again.Rune’s tone was husky, and my mouth was suddenly dry.
“Yeah?” I wanted to see him as a man again. I wanted to hold him, to bathe in the rays of his smile. He had the most beautiful smile. “Leif’s with me tonight.”
The Sons of Adam weren’t going to be coming for me yet. They had Elijah and Bramble. They’d given me a deadline, which meant they were probably too weak to attack the coven, but I’d gotten used to sharing my bed with the guys. It felt right.
Not tonight, Rune said.Tonight, we’ll be in the main house.
“What?”
Your bed’s due to arrive. We’ll be moving.
My pulse sped up. “My huge bed that can fit six?”
He gave me a wolfy grin.Yes, that bed.
There was a knock on the door and then Leif popped his head in. “Breakfast is ready.” His gaze went from me to the bedside table where my mobile rested. “Have you called Ursula yet?”
“Nope. I’ll do it now.”
“I’ll put your breakfast on the hot plate.”
Rune bounded off the bed and headed after Leif.
I picked up the phone and dialed Ursula.
It rang for ages, and I was about to hang up when she answered.
“Cora?”
