“Whoa, wait a second? I’m not allowed to eat?”
“Trust me,” Leif said, “we love a woman who enjoys her food, but you’ve inhaled three helpings in less than twenty minutes.”
I stopped and stared at my plate. Three helpings? Had I…The message from my stomach finally reached my brain, telling me I was full.
I sat back and burped. “Oh, shit.”
Tor arched a brow. “Better?”
What the hell was wrong with me?
This could be related to whatever changes she’s experiencing.
“Genetic changes would take a huge amount of energy,” Leif agreed.
“Did you call Ursula?” Tor asked.
I nodded. “I’m meeting her in”—I glanced at the clock—“fifteen minutes.”
Tor drained his mug and pushed back his chair. “I’m coming with you. I’ve already swung by the pack house today. I can go again later to check on patrols.”
Irritation nipped at me. “I don’t need a babysitter.”
“We know,” Leif said. “This isn’t about you. It’s about us. We’d feel better if one of us was with you.”
“Fine.” I raked my gaze down Tor’s torso. “Go put some clothes on.”
His mouth tipped up in a half-smile. “For now.”
He left the room and Leif fixed his gunmetal blues on me. “Be careful, Cora.”
“What?”
“You and Tor. You took a risk the other night. That was…” He licked his lips, throat bobbing. “Too close.”
My neck heated. “He told you?”
“He didn’t need to. I felt it.”
“You can do that?”
“Not all the time. But sometimes things pass through the connection we have. Images, emotions…sensations.” He shifted in his seat.
My pulse quickened, but not with embarrassment as expected. Nope, I was aroused. Horny and hot. The thought of Leif watching Tor and me…God yes.
I dropped my gaze to Rune. “What about you? Did you feel it too?”
He blinked calmly.Yes.
The pulse in my throat beat hard. “And what about the other time? When I was with Leif and Tor…”
No. I put my shields up that time.He lowered his head. This isn’t easy for me, Cora. It’s not like I can have my time with you.
But we could now.
He must have realized this too, because his head whipped up and his eyes flared gold.
“Wait a second, what just happened?” Leif asked. “What was that look? What aren’t you telling me?”
