“No more.” He gripped my throat, forcing my head up. “Feed and be done.” He pressed his mouth to mine and washed away my ire with a golden stream of his life force. It channeled into me, pushing into my veins and heightening my arousal until I was squirming against his thigh, my hot core pressed to the fabric of his slacks.
He reached between us to find me wet and wanting. I waited for him to begin. To play me with his fingers as the power he’d channeled into me swirled, needing an orgasm for it to settle.
Instead, he tore his mouth from mine and slipped down the bed.
“What are you— Ah.” I arched my back, digging my head into the pillow as he lapped at me, his thick, rough tongue propelling me over the edge and into an abyss of sensation.
I held him to me as the power settled inside me, filling me just as his tongue filled me. Sobs clawed at my chest and raked at my throat as I moved against him, my heart swelling as if it would burst. He’d given this to me, this moment, and I needed to give something back.
I forced him away and he looked up from between my legs, huge and shadowy and monstrous in his arousal. His jaw was elongated, his cheekbones sharper and jutting, his fingers longer with too many digits, tipped with talons that would tear me.
“See anything you like?” His voice was laced with bitterness and anger.
So this was Telarion almost undone, which meant fully undone he’d be a complete monster. This was the other reason we couldn’t cross that line. His eyes dimmed. He thought I was disgusted with him.
“Feed from me.” I bent my knee and pressed my hand to my femoral artery. “Feed from here.”
His eyes narrowed. “You’re not afraid.”
“Telarion, I have never been so fucking turned on in my life.”
He bit into me with a growl. Fire lit up my inner thigh, but it was quickly replaced with warm euphoria. I sank into the bed, hips making circles as he fed, head swimming with pleasure.
He finished with a swipe of his tongue, and I held my arms out to him, but he retreated from the bed and melted into the shadows.
“Telarion?”
“You should sleep now.”
But my body was alive, the effects of the buffer a distant memory. I sat up, gathering the duvet to my body like a shield. “Are you sorry we did that?”
He made a sound of exasperation. “You have no idea the things I want to do to you. Depraved, dangerous things. Inhuman things. I’m not safe for you, August. That isn’t going to change, no matter if we’re bound or apart. In fact, I wonder…I wonder if the binding is the only thing keeping me from taking the things I want from you…from this world. I wonder if the iota of humanity that I possess comes only from you.”
“That’s bullshit. If you were a true monster, a true aberration, you wouldn’t have asked me before taking me as a host.”
He moved toward the bed, floating inches off the ground, coat flapping in the invisible breeze, hair floating up to frame his face.
“You should know that if you’d refused, I’d have taken you as a host anyway.”
My heart stuttered. “You don’t mean that. You’re trying to scare me.”
His mouth lifted in a wry smile. “I wish I was.”
He turned and flew through the wall and out into the night, leaving me torn between the memory of his tongue between my thighs and his final words echoing in my ears.
If what he said was true, then I was playing with fire. Thing was, with Telarion, I’d happily get burned, and that scared the crap out of me.

Breakfast was a silent affair. The tension from last night hung over us like a storm cloud. Most of it was directed at my handler, and to be fair, he was taking it with a stoic chill that was impressive.
Uncle Fred kept shooting him death glares. Nandi didn’t look at him at all, and Archie wouldn’t stop staring at him.
I’d have cracked under the pressure by now.
“You know what?” Archie said, breaking the silence. “Telarion should have decked you. You deserve it for what you did.”
Uncle Fred made a sound of agreement from behind the lip of his mug.
