Ididn’t want to leave my bed. It smelled of my guys. It smelled of home, but Finley was out there somewhere in Dralos’s clutches. Curo, Spectre, and Logan were truly mine now, our markings identical now that we’d consummated. I could feel them through the bonds I’d created with them. Warm, steady presences that made me feel safe.

Together we’d save Fin.

It didn’t matter that he was a construct. It didn’t matter how he’d come to be. He was my friend, and he had a life of his own. I wouldn’t let anyone take that from him.

I strapped on my weapons sheath and tucked my dagger into it. It felt like an age since I’d used a weapon aside from my necromancer skills or my mind.

But best to be prepared.

The power that my connection to Logan, Spectre, and Curo was providing had cooled the amulet. The lock was safe.

For now.

But my gut told me we were running out of time.

I pulled my hair back into a ponytail. I was ready for whatever.

There was a knock on my door and Logan popped his head in. “Tobias says the pendant is ready.”

“Okay.” I walked toward him, and he entered the room and closed the door behind him. “Is everything okay?”

“Two things…” He tugged a paperback copy ofThe Woods at Duskfrom his back pocket and held it out to me. “I believe you need to sign this.” He held out a pen.

I gave him a sheepish smile. “Curo told you.”

He shook his head. “I can’t even…I didn’t think I could fall for you any harder but I was wrong.”

My cheeks grew warm, and I took the book and signed it quickly. “It’s no big deal.”

“Adi…” He nudged my chin up with the crook of his finger. “You’re amazing and I can’t wait to spend my life getting to know you.” He kissed me softly. “I can’t wait to get you alone and have my sheets smell of you.”

I exhaled against his mouth, reveling in the heat of our connection. “I guess we were drawn together for a reason.”

He kissed me again and then pulled back, expression sobering. “Now on to the second thing. I had the blood in your window analyzed.”

“Okay…”

“It belongs to Magda.”

It took me a moment to make the connection, and the revelation was a slug to my chest. “No.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Finley wouldn’t do that. He wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

“Probably not, but Dralos has been getting into people’s heads, and Finley…well, he’s a part of him.”

“You think Dralos controlled him, like a meat suit?”

“Either that or the cat-sith you know and love is an evil killer.”

“No. This is all Dralos. He did this. Now he has Finley. We find him and we stop him. Tonight.”

Goodness knows what that bastard was doing to my buddy.
