“And you’re sure that’s where he’ll be drawn?” Spectre asked.

My hellhound mate had changed into a black, long-sleeve polo shirt that hugged his muscular frame like a second skin. His biker jacket was hung on the chair behind him.

“Yes,” Tobias said. “The power Finley holds will unbind Dralos’s body and draw his soul back to it, so he’ll want to bring Finley to it.”

“Will you have to redo the spell in the correct territory?” Logan asked. “To re-pinpoint Finley’s exact location.”

Tobias nodded. “Now, quiet please. I need to focus.”

Logan locked gazes with me and his tight expression softened slightly. The corner of his mouth lifted in a smile that I returned. Logan was still an enigma I desperately wanted to unravel. I just hoped I got the chance to do so.

Tobias closed his eyes and dangled the pendant over the map. He began to hum low in his throat, a typical channeling sound for mages. The sound developed an eerie echo quality to it the longer it went on and gooseflesh broke out over my skin.

The pendant began to sway. Tobias’s arm jerked to the left as if pulled by an unseen force. He continued to hum, seemingly unperturbed.

The pendant began to make circles that got tighter and tighter until they stopped and the pendant shot down and hit the map.

We all leaned forward, desperate to see the location where our nemesis was hidden.

“What the fuck?” Spectre said.

“Frostgate?” Logan whispered. “He’s in Frostgate.”

“Not just any location.” Curo looked up at me. “That’s the property the Circles were fighting over.”

This was happening tonight. We had a location. My pulse raced. “What’s the plan.”

“Destroy the body,” Dax said.

“Yes.” Tobias looked at me. “But we need to time it right. Adi has to find Dralos on the spirit plane and be ready to push him through the red door.”

“Are you sure this red door is the way to get rid of him?” Dax asked.

My gut told me it was. “It must be. I feel it.”

“How will she know that his body is gone?” Curo asked. “We can destroy it, but how do we let her know it’s done?”

Fuck, I hadn’t thought of that. “Tobias?”

Tobias looked unsure. “Something will change. He’ll change, and you’ll know.”

“That’s it?” Spectre stared at him in horror. “And what if nothing changes. What if she doesn’t know.”

Silence fell for several long beats. “I’ll figure it out. I’ll drop out of the spirit plane and into gray sight to check if I need to. You guys can let me know then.”

Spectre looked a little reassured, but the corners of his mouth were tight, telling me he wasn’t completely convinced of this plan.

I locked gazes with him. “It’s the only plan we’ve got. We don’t have another choice.”

“You need to be careful, though, Adi,” Tobias said. “You can’t pass through that red door. If you do, you’ll be lost.”

My stomach fluttered with nerves. I lifted my chin. “I’ve got this. I can do it.”

“Then we gear up and we ship out now,” Dax said.

CHAPTERTHIRTY-EIGHT

Three patrol units approached the manor building from different directions. Orders were to park the bikes half a block out, approach on foot, and surround the place.
