Damn, I was strong. Wait, no. Curo, the silver-haired guy, had his hand on the Adonis’s shoulder. He must have pulled him off me.
“Spectre…what are you doing?” Curo’s voice was a soothing purr.
Thiswas Spectre? My bio dad’s adopted son?
“Tasting,” Spectre growled.
“Yeah, I got that part, but why?”
“Smells so fucking good.”
Curo cursed and slipped between us, blocking me from view. “And how do I smell, buddy?”
Spectre made a sound of frustration. “Fuck off.”
“Not happening. Focus on me.”
Spectre’s chest vibrated in warning and the wordattackscrolled through my mind.
Curo slapped him hard enough to rock his head to one side.
Ice gripped my chest. Curo had to be nuts.
Spectre slowly turned his head back to look at Curo. He blinked. “Shit.”
“Yeah, you’ve been a bad boy, Spec. You need to go to your room. Now.” His tone was saturated with authority.
Spectre’s gaze flew over Curo’s shoulder and locked on me. His pupils dilated, and for a moment I thought he was going to shove Curo out of the way and grab me again, but instead he shook his head and strode into the room next to mine, slamming the door behind him.
Curo’s shoulders relaxed. “You best come with me.”
He led me a few doors down and into a bedroom that smelled of fresh linen. The king-sized bed was rumpled, but the rest of the room was neat and tidy. Fitted wardrobes to one side and an ornately carved cupboard against the far wall. The window was slightly open, letting in a cool breeze, which wasn’t too unpleasant since the room was super warm.
“You need to stay here tonight,” Curo said.
“This is your room.”
“I know.” He turned to look at me.
His eyes weren’t the same color as the other hellhounds. His were a startling pale blue ringed in indigo.
“You’re not a hellhound, are you?”
“What gave it away? The intensely good looks, charm, and sex appeal?”
“Your eyes.”
“Do you want a closer look?” He bridged the distance between us and peered down at me. “Pretty, aren’t they?”
I smiled sweetly. “Shame they’re set in such an arrogant face.”
The corner of his mouth tipped up. “It’s not arrogant to know your worth, Adi, and I just saved you from a pussy pounding you would probably have taken like a champ.”
I was no prude but my neck heated anyway, an indignant “Excuse me?” spilling from my lips.
He rolled his eyes and sauntered toward the window. “Spectre likes your scent, which means he wants to fuck you, and my buddy mayneedto fuck, but he doesn’t oftenwantto. So, until I figure out what the fuck is up with him, you’ll stay in my room.”
“I’m not sharing your room.”
