“Yeah. You did good coming forward. Helped get him off our books. Grave Spirits made a mistake taking him on.”
She nods and then heads toward Bobby.
“Is Adi okay?” Riley asks.
“She’s fucking Spectre.” I pour another shot and down it.
Riley watches me with an intense knowing look that makes my skin itch. “Stop it.”
“You like her, don’t you?” She moves closer, dropping her tone to something conspiratorial. “Curo…I’m so sorry.”
Anyone else and I’d tell them to go fuck themselves, but Riley is the little sister I never had. One of the few people I give a damn about.
“Yeah, it sucks. But it is what it is.” I push my stool back. “Just need to fuck her out of my system.” My gaze falls on a pretty redhead sitting on Odi’s lap. I catch his eye and flick my gaze to the female.
He nods and whispers in her ear.
She looks over at me with green eyes a shade too dark, a face too round, but I don’t have to look at her face when I fuck her. I smile tightly, nod, and head for the door.
She follows.
Tomorrow Adi will be a distant memory.

ADI
I exited the bathroom, Spectre’s T-shirt hanging off my frame. It came to just above my knees. I wasn’t the kind of woman who usually wore her date’s clothes, but with Spectre it was different. I wanted to be close, skin on skin with his scent in my nose. The T-shirt was the next best thing. I fisted the material, held it to my nose, and inhaled.
My stomach grumbled, begging for food, and now that the edge had been taken off our mating heat, the vamp and ghost issue filled my mind. Had Riley and the others caught up to the Lurkers?
I should find her and ask. I’d better get dressed first. Then I could grab Spectre and we could get a bite to eat and find Riley together.
Giggles echoed down the corridor and then a redhead I’d seen in the common room a few times appeared round the corner.
She wasn’t alone. Curo ate up space behind her, hands on her hips as he steered her along.
It was obvious what they were about to do from the flush on her cheeks and the way she was breathing, all erratic and excited. I could practically smell her arousal. I guess bonding to Spectre had heightened my latent hellhound senses.
Curo locked gazes with me over the woman’s head and smirked before spinning her to face him and claiming her mouth. One hand went to her nape to hold her steady as he kissed her, but his gaze remained pinned on me.
My gut twisted and a cold, empty feeling filled me.
What the fuck was wrong with me? I lifted my chin and strode back to Spectre’s room.
“You might want to put in some ear plugs, Adi,” Curo called after me. “It’s about to get noisy.”
I stopped at the door and looked back at him.
“Knock yourself out. Spectre and I are done anyway; we’ll be headed down to get a bite to eat. You know, to refuel for round two.”
His beautiful jaw tensed and then he smiled, cold and empty. “I’m happy for you.”
And damn if those words weren’t saturated with sincerity. My throat tightened, and a feeling of loss and nostalgia washed over me, which made no sense because I hadn’t lost anything and I had nothing to feel nostalgic for. Still, my vision blurred, and I blinked back tears.
“Catch you later.” I quickly stepped back into the room. Clothes could wait a few minutes. Long enough for Curo to lock himself away with the groupie.
I just… I didn’t want to see it. I didn’t want to know.
