“Now this is a fabulous start to girly afternoon.”

The urge tostretch came in waves. The ache in my muscles was back. Maybe I’d overdone it at the gym and in training. We’d just started our third movie, but I needed to get up and walk about.

“I’ll be right back.”

Sharniza barely took her eyes from the screen and the twins didn’t even flinch, too engrossed in the romance playing out on TV. This was a secret indulgence for them, and I wasn’t about to spoil it and tell them that the girl got the guy. That in these movies shealwaysgot the guy.

I needed to splash some cold water on my face and lie down for a minute. I was halfway to my room when the boisterous sound of the males returning drifted up the stairs.

“Cam!”

I turned at my door and waited for Touron to catch up. His hair was disheveled, his eyes bright with mirth.

“How’d it go? Did you get picked to run tonight?”

He shook his head with a grin. “I guess my scent wasn’t to any omega’s liking.” He slowed to a stop beside me, his nostrils flaring. “What have you been eating?”

“Eating? Oh, cookies and popcorn.”

He leaned in and sniffed me. “Mmmm… No it smells like…fresh bread lathered in butter.”

“O-kay.” I backed away from him, and he looked up sharply, pupils dilating so I could see my reflection in his eyes. “Touron?”

He stepped away from me quickly. “I should shower. All the omegas and the scents. They’re all confused in my head.”

“We’re having movie night if you want to join us.”

He had his back to me as he unlocked his door. “Sure.” Had his voice gotten deeper? “Later then.” He stepped into his room and closed the door.

My neck twinged reminding me I needed to lie down for a bit.

It was hot in my room, even with the window open. The full moon beamed down at me, filling my head with a warm fuzzy sensation. There was no need to turn on the lights. I splashed cool water on my face then climbed onto the bed. The sheets were cool against my feverish skin.

Maybe Iwasgetting sick.

It would be a first, but it was possible.

I’d have to go to the infirmary…I’d go in a moment. Just one moment.

The moon filled my head, bright and achingly beautiful. It called to me. Begging me to join in and play. To let its light fill me to the brim. It would be cool in the moonlight. The ache would stop. The fever would ebb.

This was a dream, so shoes didn’t matter. I slipped from my room and down the dark corridor. The steps were blessedly cold on the soles of my feet.

The hall was empty and dark too, but the sounds of a movie played somewhere in the distance. The dream felt almost too real. But it wasn’t real because I wouldn’t be floating if it was.

The night beyond the door beckoned and I answered it’s call.

TOURON

Cam should have joined us by now. I’d chickened out on knocking for her on my way down because for a moment she’d smelled too good, and the goyle inside me had surged to the surface wanting to push her up against the wall and inhale more of her delicious scent.

I’d had to get away from her and clear my head. This was Cam. My friend. I didn’t want to have those thoughts about her.

But it had been almost an hour and she hadn’t come down. A human male twirled a woman around on the dancefloor and her dark hair fanned out like bat wings.
