“Yeah? What kind of history?” Dayn asked.
“The it’s-none-of-your-damn-business kind,” Curi growled. “Because you and I, we’re done.”
“Curi, wait,” Minion two said.
I pressed my back to the wall to get out of Curi’s way as he stormed past without giving me a second glance.
“Fuck him,” Dayn said.
“Easy for you to say,” Minion two snapped. “Your father’s friends with his. My family only got invites to the Mason affairs because ofmyfriendship with him.”
“Yeah?” Dayn said. “Well, then you should have thought of that before shunning him.”
“But you said he was weak.”
Dayn snorted. “Curi is a lot of things, but weak isn’t one of them.”
“Then why?”
“Because here, in the academy, I’m going to be the one leading, not Curi. If he looks weak, then all the better for me. Stick with me Bax and you’ll be fine.”
Shit. Now, they were heading my way.
I went back down the stairs a little before turning and starting back up. They passed by, and Dayn shot a sneer my way.
I would have given him the finger if my hands weren’t occupied clutching coffee mugs, instead I returned his sneer with a flat look.
He snorted and smirked. “See you on the field, Walker.”
What did that mean? The timetable said history and arcana today and I had an extra session of arcana with Flora on my timetable after history.
I’d have to ask Touron and Shar if they knew.
“Cameron?” Palia ran up the steps behind me. “Did you hear what happened?”
“What?” I paused for her to catch up.
“Miss Yarrow was found unconscious in the main building this morning.”
“Shit! What happened to her?”
“No one knows. She’s still unconscious but arcana has been cancelled today. We’re with Farnell on the outdoor training grounds.”
“Wait, I’ve been up for ages, how come I didn’t hear about this?”
“Did you check the notice board in the dorm hall?”
“Ah…no.”
“Palia, ask her already.” Ginia called from the floor below.
“Oh, yeah. We’re headed to the coffee shop to grab a bite. Don’t fancy cooking. They do the best toasties. You want to come?”
My stomach growled. “Do they take card? I didn’t bring much cash with me.”
“Yep. Card, cash, and some cadets have accounts open that their families cover.”
Lucky for some. “I’ll grab Touron and Shar and meet you there.”
