“That’s enough questions,” the publicist says. “Thank you,Dimplesmagazine.”

“No, I wanna hear what she was gonna say,” Lewis practically barks at the guy. The entire room goes silent.

He turns to me, his hazel stare soft and expectant at once.

I swallow, feeling the burn of everyone’s gaze on me. “Do you really think you could make a life with her? Because as much as she loves you and as much as she loves that you’re choosing to film this project here in San Francisco, she knows your heart is your work. She wouldn’t want you to change yourself in order to be in a relationship.”

A hard swallow moves through his throat. Then his mouth curves up. He shakes his head. “She’s my whole world. I want to be wherever she is. Nothing else matters.”

I let out a shaky breath, my lips trembling as I smile. “Okay. That’s really, really great news. One last thing—would you be okay with her running up to you right now and kissing you? She’s missed you like crazy, and she’s so ridiculously in love with you.”

His hazel eyes flash. “Absolutely.”

I don’t think I’ve ever cleared ten feet of space so quickly. It feels like it takes less than a second to make it to Lewis. He’s on his feet by the time I get to him. When I jump into his arms, he scoops me up instantly, like he was waiting for me to throw myself at him and wrap my legs around his waist. We don’t bother with words; we just kiss. It’s not the filthiest kiss we’ve ever shared, which is probably a good thing. Based on the snapping noises, flashes, and startled voices around us, this moment is being documented by everyone in this room and will make the rounds online and on TV in a matter of minutes.

But it’s still amazing, earth-shattering, soul shaking, and everything good—everything I’ve missed and craved ever since we’ve been apart. The feel of his lips on mine, his arms wrapped around me, the heat of his body skimming mine—it’s all heaven.

When we break our kiss, I cup my hands around his stubbly cheeks and aim a shaky smile at him.

“Hi. I love you.”

My heart explodes. “Hey. I love you too.”

Another kiss and more shouting happens before he finally puts me down. He doesn’t let me go, though. His arms stay wrapped around me, like he’s using his whole body as a shield to protect me from all this chaos.

“I know you hate all this,” he says. “The cameras, the reporters, the paparazzi, the chaos—”

“No, it’s okay. I can handle it as long as I have you.”

He beams down at me.

“Sorry I crashed your press conference. And sorry to air our personal stuff in such a public way,” I say. “I know privacy means the world to you when it comes to your personal life, but I just couldn’t stand to be apart any longer. I need you in my life, Lewis. Always.”

“Don’t be sorry. I’m perfectly happy with the whole world knowing you’re mine.”

More shouting and flashes happen around us. Lewis leads me by the hand out through a side door and around the corner through another door, which leads to the stairwell. In the quiet space, we take a second to breathe before he pulls me into him once more. We stay planted in this spot as we kiss, sealed away from the chaos just feet away. Even as our lips part, we stay holding on to each other. I don’t ever want to let go.

“I’ll need a place to stay, now that I’m relocating to the Bay Area. Think you can help me out?” Lewis quirks an eyebrow, and I laugh.

“Well, I have an apartment in Nob Hill that’ll be vacant in a few months. But if you need something sooner, I’ve got this newly remodeled bungalow in Half Moon Bay that you might like.”

He flashes the most beautiful smile. “I think that just might work.”

Epilogue

Lewis

One year later

I shut off the water in the shower, quickly dry off, wrap the bath towel around my waist, then hop out and check the time on my phone on the bathroom counter. Already quarter to six. Shit.

“Harper, babe, we’re late!”

I dart out of the bathroom, turn left into the bedroom doorway, and bump chest-first into Harper.

She lets out anoofnoise, wobbling with the impact. I reach both hands out to steady her, dropping my towel in the process. And then it happens, like it always does every time I touch her hot-as-fuck body. My cock twitches as I take in the swell of her perfect ass and hips in that black lace thong, how her boobs are barely contained in the cups of her matching bra.

“Sorry,” I rasp. “I forget how small this place is sometimes.”
