“It should never have happened,” says Chill as she approaches from behind.

I jump at her unexpected arrival, but Rattler squeezes my hand in support as we turn to face her.

“I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you,” Chill says. “It pisses me off to know that bastard was able to terrorize all of you. I’d like you to tell me everything you can remember about Walt and his actions in the casino.”

I sigh and rub my forehead as I try to organize my thoughts.

“Chill, can’t it wait until tomorrow? Bianca has had a rough day and could use a good night’s sleep,” Rattler says. I give him a grateful look before turning back to Chill.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean right now. Tomorrow is soon enough,” Chill says. “Besides, there is someone here to see you. Rafe’s nephew is in the common room. He said he brought you some of your things.”

Rattler thanks Chill before guiding me back to the common room. I scan the space, but don’t see the cop. Rattler leads me over to a table where a young man in jeans and a t-shirt sits waiting. It’s then that I recognize him. “You look different without your uniform,” I say as Rattler pulls out a chair for me to sit.

He grins. “Am I hotter in or out of the uniform?”

Rattler draws my attention by making a noise. It’s something between a growl and a snort. Randy chuckles as Rattler pulls out the chair next to mine.

“Why are you here?” Rattler asks.

Randy gestures toward the suitcase between us. “I brought Bianca her things. The crime scene team finished at her apartment, so I packed everything on her list and brought it over.”

Rattler straightens. “Did they find anything useful?”

Randy shrugs. “We won’t know until they process everything they collected. However, one of the techs told me he pulled several clear prints off the cardboard boxes. It doesn’t mean they belong to the assholes we’re hunting, but we might get lucky. They also found fingerprints on the items they packed. I need to get your prints so we can eliminate them.”

“Of course. Should I go to the police station?”

“No, I can take them now,” Randy says, taking out a device. Rattler shifts forward in his seat as I follow Randy’s instructions so he can process my fingerprints. “Thank you,” he says as he slips the device into his pocket.

“Now what?” I ask.

“They’ll eliminate your prints and run the others that they found. If we find anyone with a record or without a good reason for being in your apartment, then we’ll pick them up and interrogate them. This is Rafe’s case, and he’s focusing all his attention on it. We’re running the other women to determine how many are missing.”

“Brigit said they found twenty-seven potential victims,” I say.

“Yeah, that’s how many were on the list Rafe gave me. Rafe’s trying to get more resources to help, but in the meantime, Puma has offered him assistance from the Demon Dawgs and the casino. He’s angry that someone dared to go after his people. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of his wrath.”

“I likely know most of the women who have gone missing,” I muse. “I told Rattler earlier that we tried to find two of my former coworkers when they didn’t show up for their last day of work. When a mutual friend went to the apartment they shared, the landlord said they had moved out.”

Randy shifts and pulls out a small notebook. “What are their names?”

“Emily Martin and Darcie Tomkin,” I say.

He writes down their names as he bobs his head. “Yeah, they are on the list. I’ll follow up with their landlord tomorrow.”

As Randy slips the notebook back into his pocket, a gorgeous woman approaches the table. She runs her hands over Rattler’s shoulders as she leans down to kiss his cheek. “Are you ready for your patch-in bang?”

When Rattler turns to her, my heart cracks. Unable to watch them, I focus on the room. Several women have joined the party, each of them wearing tight or revealing clothes. At least none of them are naked. Each has wrapped herself around a club member. This is more like what I had expected when Rattler suggested bringing me here. However, much more tame than I had imagined. I relax when I see that all the members with girlfriends seem to ignore the other women and focus only on their SO. Puma has Alisa plastered to his side as his massive paw occasionally roams over her back to cup her ass, before returning to her hip. Brigit has her arms around Wildcard’s neck while he has her hands on her hip as they sway to the music. Avery sits on Dice’s lap as they chat with Chill, Hunter, Viper, and Rafe.

“Jasmine, you know the rules,” Rattler says, drawing my attention back to him. “No flirting with the guys if they’re with other women.”

Jasmine pouts as she takes me in. “I didn’t know you were together. With the way he’s looking at her, I assumed she was with him.”

Her words snap my attention to Randy, who winks at me. He chuckles when Rattler lets out a growl. Shaking his head, he leans forward to speak to me. “Are you staying here?”

“Of course she’s staying here,” Rattler snaps. “She can’t go back to her apartment. She’ll be safer here.” He glances at me as if to verify. I open my mouth and close it.

“I don’t want to go back to my apartment.”
