“Stay safe. If you need us, call out. Don’t go into any of the apartments,” I tell her.

She rolls her eyes at me, but nods before disappearing. I glance at Randy. “Maybe one of us should go with her.”

“I’ll start at that end and keep my ears open. She’ll be okay. She’s strong.”

His words don’t make me feel better, but I hurry down the hallway and pound on the first door. The sooner we finish, the sooner I can verify she’s safe. I know I’m being ridiculous, but I can’t shake the feeling that I could lose her at any minute. I don’t get a response at any door on my wing, so I move to the larger wing Randy is covering. He’s making good progress, so I assume he’s having the same rotten luck that I’m having.

“Guys!” Bianca calls out. Randy and I hustle to reach her. We find her near the end of the hallway, talking with a woman close to our age. The woman has her blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, and she’s not wearing any makeup. She’s attractive, but not nearly as gorgeous as Bianca. I see her eyes widen when she spots Randy and me.

“Randy, Rattler, this is Stephanie,” Bianca introduces us. Stephanie runs her hand over her hair before tugging down the tank top so far her breasts almost pop out. I smirk as her eyes study Randy and me as if we’re both desserts and she’s trying to make up her mind as to which she wants to sample.

“Stephanie said she saw the men moving Bianca and Darcie’s things,” Bianca says.

“Really? When was this? What did you see?” Randy asks.

“I can’t remember the exact day, but it was about two weeks ago. I saw a man coming out of their apartment carrying a box. He left the door open, so I peeked inside and saw another man boxing up their things. I asked him what they were doing, and he said they were helping their friends move to new apartments.”

“Did they say where they were moving to?” Bianca asks.

“No. I asked, especially because he implied they were moving to separate apartments. I pointed out that he was mixing up their stuff. That’s when he changed his story and said that they were moving to the same apartment, but across town.”

“What did they look like?” I ask.

She looks me up and down, then asks, “Is that a joke?”

Randy and I look at each other in confusion. It’s Bianca who figures it out. “Did one look like him? Only with blue eyes instead of green?”

Stephanie studies my face and nods. “Yeah. His eyes were blue, but other than that, he could have been your twin.”

So, Walt had helped cover up the disappearances. That doesn’t surprise me. Pulling out my phone, I send a text to Chill with what we’ve learned. The more information Chill has, the better she can interrogate Walt.

“Where next?’ I ask Bianca.

“Why don’t you guys come in here?” Stephanie asks. “We could have ourselves a party. I have some vodka and OJ. I’ve always wanted to party with a Demon Dawg.” She focuses her predatory eyes on me.

“Sorry, Stephanie, but they’re both taken,” Bianca says as she slides her right arm through Randy’s and her left through mine. I glance down at her as she leads us to the stairwell.

“Don’t like to share?” Randy asks Bianca.

“I don’t mind sharing as long as it’s with the right person,” Bianca answers primly. “She was not the right person.”

“Agreed,” I say, shuddering as I recall the way Stephanie drooled over the idea of capturing a Demon Dawg for herself.

Once we’re downstairs, Randy makes a detour to the manager’s office to grab the security feed and the note. When he joins us, he hands me the note, which is inside an evidence bag. As I suspected, the banking information matches what we found when reviewing the payroll files of the missing women.

“We can run the banking information and see who owns the account,” Randy suggests.

“We know who owns the account,” I tell him. “It’s the same account we found when we researched the records of the missing women at 1%. The Keepers of the Third Reich own that account. They’re a white supremacist group run by my uncle.”

Randy stops walking. I turn to look at him to find him glaring at me. “Why the fuck didn’t you tell Rafe? Does he know about these bastards? What the fuck do you think you’re doing, keeping this from the cops? We’re supposed to be on the same side.”

I stare at him in surprise as Bianca steps between us. “You guys are on the same side. You shouldn’t be fighting. Randy, you don’t know for sure that Rafe doesn’t already know about this. Right?”

When Randy turns his glare to Bianca, I reach out and pull her behind me. “Don’t take your anger out on her,” I warn.

Randy runs his hand over his face. “I wasn’t going to yell at her. I don’t understand why you kept this information secret.”

“Look, we just discovered what was going on twenty-four hours ago. We’re still figuring out how they infiltrated 1% and the extent of the damage they’ve done. I don’t know why you didn’t know about the account. The only reason I know is that I was with Brigit when she discovered the information while reviewing the employment records. Chill and Viper were both there. They told Wildcard and Trouble. I assumed they provided the information to Rafe since they brought him in about the missing women.”
