“I love you, Mads.” I breathed, my eyes fixed on hers as she rode me slowly.

“I love you, baby boy.” Her mouth claimed mine, eyes closing as she fell into the kiss with everything she had.

Fuck I loved this more than anything.

I finally understood the reason for loving someone with such fierce desire.

Desire that burned you to the fucking core and would leave you nothing more than a pile of ash if it was snuffed.

Madison was my fire, and I wanted her to burn me for all eternity.

“Marcus…”

After a whole night of drinking, eating pizza, and fucking, I knew the decision I was making was the right one, and I found myself this morning at Alpha-Six—standing right in front of Drake as he sat behind his desk with a pissed-off look on his face.

“If you want me to be your middle man and glorified babysitter, I should have the privilege of coming and going as I please from here, in addition to open communication with you.”

Drake pressed his thumb and index finger along his brows as he sighed, leaning back in his office chair.

“Anything else?” He didn’t drop his hand to look at me. Drake just sat there with his fingers pressed so hard against his skull that the tips started turning white.

“The favor… for Madison.”

I wasn’t doing this for me. It was all for her. Sure, it would be cool to have the opportunity to work with Drake and his underground SWAT division long-term, but ultimately, she impacted my decision to help more than anything.

“What about it?”

“Tell me what it is. What kind of favor can you possibly offer me—her, that would be too good to pass up?”

I had a solid idea, as did Dean when I initially brought it up to him, but I wanted to hear the words directly from the source.

I wanted Drake to tell me exactly what was covered by this so-calledfavorhe offered.

“The name goes without question. Adrian.” He started, dropping his arm down to rest on the edge of his desk. “But the catch? I know without a doubt that she wants revenge on his sorry ass for everything he has ever done to her.”

“I’m not following. How do you know what he did to her?”

“Why do you think I know so much about all three of those women? Sure as fuck wasn’t just Charlotte that graced us with an introduction several years ago.”

I felt my hands turn into strained fists at my side, my jaw clenching at the thought of Drake having the ability to have prevented or stopped what had happened to Madison before Adrian took it too far.

I said nothing; I just stood there with blind rage coursing through my veins because I knew that anything more I had to say to him would end our conversation and agreement to work together.

“Fuck sake, kid…” Drake sighed, leaning forward and adjusting his position to rest both forearms on the desk, his fingers interlaced in front of him. “There was nothing I could have done to protect her or stop him. Adrian had already sunk his fangs deep into her before we crossed paths.”

My jaw ticked as I glared at Drake, deep-seated anger seething within me. I found it difficult to stand here any longer, to look at the one man who could—should have done something far sooner.

“Do you want this for her or not? I can’t fix the past, but I can give her this. I can give Madison a chance to finally breathe again.” Drake gave another heavy sigh as he continued. “Don’t think I didn’t wish I could have helped when I knew what he was doing to her. The only thing I could do was watch closely enough to ensure that Adrian didn’t do the unthinkable.”

As if that made any difference.

Adrian broke Madison, and no one dared to help pick up the pieces on her behalf.

“How soon?” I questioned, crossing my arms over my chest with a long sigh.

“As soon as she’s ready. Just give me a call, and I’ll take care of everything on the back end.”

“And she won’t be taken down for this?”
