“No one will even know she did it. You have my word.” Drake promised with a curt nod. “She’ll be doing us all a favor in the end by eliminating that monstrosity from the earth.”
So, not only would Adrian’s death benefit Madison but all parties involved. It would be a win for everyone—everyone besides the man himself.
“Then we have a deal.”
I stepped forward and held my hand out as soon as I was within arms reach of Drake.
Madison would get what she was owed—her revenge.
Everything was always for her.
Chapter 29
Dean
Havingtheapartmentallto myself meant that, for once, I could stretch out on the couch, the space being entirely mine.
Madison left for work, and Marcus was out doing—whatever the fuck he felt was so important that he had to leave early in the morning on his day off to do it.
I had just switched on the TV and Xbox when I heard the door open and close behind me. Pulling myself up to sit, I peered over the back of the couch to see that Marcus had returned home and, being the loving and generous best friend he was, had brought back a pizza.
“I love that you always bring home exactly what I’m craving.” I teased with a smug smile, my eyes fixed on the goods.
Marcus removed his earbuds, tucking them into his jacket pocket as he strode across the room and sat the box on the counter.
“First of all, I didn’t bring Madison home. She broke into our apartment and fucked you instead of me by accident.”
“Huh… Same thing, I suppose.” I shrugged with a warm laugh as I stood from the couch with a long stretch before heading around the corner and into the kitchen for lunch.
“Far from it, my friend.” Marcus slapped the back of my shoulder as he passed by me to open the fridge. “But there are also zero regrets.”
I picked up the pizza box and carried it with me into the living room, where Marcus followed closely behind with two ice-cold beers.
“Did you think this would be the end result? That an accidental fuck would lead to us sharing her?”
I asked the question that had been hovering at the back of my mind for a long while now.
“Honestly?” Marcus tilted his head in thought as he handed me one of the beers and fell onto the couch beside me. “No… I mean, the initial idea was there, but I didn’t know if you or Madison would be willing to even consider a polyamorous relationship.”
Marcus pressed his back into the cushion, propping the arches of his feet on the edge of the coffee table and making himself comfortable.
“You really love her, don’t you? Madison’s got you wrapped around her finger so tight you’d bark if she asked you to.” I jested, biting the tip of my tongue as I tossed him one of the Xbox controllers.
“Woof, bro.” Marcus huffed in agreement, and it brought a beaming smile to my face to see him so happy and content with his life.
“Are you going to tell me where you went bright and early this morning? Or was the pizza to bribe me into silence? Because I’m fine either way.”
“I accepted the deal with Drake. Formally.” Marcus sighed, taking a long sip from his beer as he stared forward at the TV.
While I was initially against this whole bargain between the Sergeant and him, it was ultimately his choice, and I wasn’t about to stand in his way—not when the benefit outweighed the cost.
“I’m not going to nag or pry for the why, so how about you tell me what his favor was for Madison? Was it what we had assumed?”
“It was. All-inclusive, too.” Marcus nodded as he spoke, sucking in the side of his cheek and tilting his head as if subconsciously admiring his decision.
“All-inclusive? It’s a prison, not a fucking five-star resort in Jamaica, Marcus.” I huffed sarcastically as I brought the bottle to my lips—interesting choice of words for his deal with Sergeant Drake.
“I know what and where it is. I meant all-inclusive with the notion that Drake will take care of everything. The access, the cover-up, literally everything.”
