“Oh my gosh!” I squeal, my cheeks flushing. “You are so crazy!”
But my dad interrupts then.
“How long have you been dating?” he asks. “And why didn’t you tell me?”
Logan and I share a look.
“Well, we didn’t figure out the connection until about a week ago,” I explain. “There are a lot of Kincaids in the Minneapolis area, and even after I explained that you’re a doctor, it still didn’t click. I guess there are a lot of Dr. Kincaids in the world.”
Logan shrugs.
“But we put two and two together when Emma mentioned that you’d recently welcomed a baby with your girlfriend. That doesn’t happen to everyone, and suddenly, I knew it was you. No worries, my friend. If anything, this makes things better because now I know Emma’s from good people. I’m not worried.”
My dad still looks shaken but nods imperceptibly.
“Holy fuck,” Rick whispers. “Who would have thought? But if this is what you want, Emma, then I support you,” he states. “As your father, your happiness is important to me. I still don’t approve of you dropping out of school, but I also know how medicine can grind a person down. Take some time to explore,” he acknowledges quietly. “It’s not going to kill anyone.”
I nod my head with a smile.
“Daddy, I’m not dropping out. I’m taking a leave of absence, and it’s probably going to be just a year or two as I open Redline and Roses. I want to see what can happen with my business,” I explain. “Sales are great, and I really think this could be an amazing opportunity. But if it doesn’t work out, I can always return to Evergreen, and I promise, Daddy: I will get a degree and graduate. Maybe not next year, but sometime in the future.”
Rick nods again, about to say something, but then Logan pulls me to him, those blue eyes fierce.
“I want you to graduate,” he rasps. “I want what’s best for you, and I want what you want, Emma. If it means walking across the stage with your graduation gown draped over your pregnant belly, then so be it. If it means that I’m in the audience, holding our baby girl as you receive your diploma, then so be it. I want you, Emma Kincaid, and what makes you happy is what makes me happy.”
Then, the alpha male kisses me again as I flush with pleasure because I know Logan Blackshaw is good for his words. The billionaire has my best interests at heart, and love surges through my veins as we bathe in the warm glow of mutual adoration.
EPILOGUE
Emma
I lie back, letting out a low sigh. When I look down at my stomach, my smile grows rueful because I’m as big as a whale now, and yet I love it. I adore having Logan’s baby in my belly, and look forward to giving birth to our daughter.
At that moment, my boyfriend appears at the bedroom door looking somewhat disheveled and sweaty. His black hair falls across his forehead in a damp mess, and the outline of his shirt clings to his broad shoulders from exertion.
“Damn, putting together a crib is harder than I thought,” he grunts. “What the hell.”
“You mean a crypto billionaire can’t assemble baby furniture?” I tease. “But I thought they made this stuff to be easy!”
Logan merely shakes his head before coming over to press a deep kiss to my lips.
“I think it’d be better for me to use some of my crypto to pay someone to assemble this damn thing,” he growls. “But whatevs. I’m almost done, although our baby girl better appreciate it.”
“She’ll appreciate it,” I coo, winding my arms around his bronzed neck. “And I’m thinking about naming her Logania. What do you think?”
My boyfriend shoots me a wry look.
“Really, baby? Logania? I appreciate the vote of confidence but it’s a little weird.”
My eyes go wide with mock outrage.
“Okay, well then how about Richarda? Or Rickarda, for my dad?”
My boyfriend merely nuzzles my neck before pressing another deep kiss to my lips.
“Or how about Rosie, after Redline and Roses?” he murmurs. “That’s definitely better than Rickarda, Richarda, or Logania.”
I giggle because my shop has taken off. After the confrontation with my dad, Logan was true to his word and helped me secure a physical location for my first store, in addition to being my first big investor. But it paid off because within months, sales had taken off, both online and offline. The best way to describe it is that the two sales channels complement each other. There are some folks who like to see product in person, and when they do, they post their purchase to social media. Then, other people see my creations and bingo! Sales growth becomes exponential.
