“And there it is,” Cara mocked Nicole, smiling triumphantly as it seemed she figured something out.

“What does that mean?!” Nicole shouted.

“This was never about Danny. This was about your jealousy of me.”

“Jealous?! I have no reason to be jealous of you.”

“If this was truly over Danny, you would feel no need to have a problem with me. You got your man, and I got mine. But this thing is deeper than that. You hated Sara and me from the time we came into the STF. You couldn’t stand how quickly we climbed the ladder of success. But from the moment I got that promotion, making meyoursuperior, that’s when truly began to despise me.

You thought taking Danny would break me, but it didn’t. It kills you to know the hand you played failed. When I left STF, you thought you won but look at me now. I own my own business, making more money than the STF could ever offer. I have a loving husband, beautiful children, and a loyal family behind my back. You hate me because you want to be me. But, sweetheart, please take any misfortunes in your life up with God. You got Danny like you wanted, so there isn’t a reason for you to have a problem with me, unless my assumptions are right?” Cara leaned back on the couch with a smirk.

Nicole looked like she could spit fire. Her silence confirmed everything Cara said had to be true. She didn’t have a single rebuttal. To be honest, what Cara said made a lot of sense. If itwas truly about loving Danny, why the hell did she still have a problem? If anyone had a right to be mad, it was Cara, but she had truly been the peaceful one in this situation.

Danny had balls of steel for coming here after betraying her. You could see the guilt all over his face as he stared openly at Cara. He still had feelings for her. That much was clear.

“Well?” Cara asked as she tilted her head to the side.

Nicole gritted her teeth before she abruptly stood from her chair and stormed out of the clubhouse. Sara raised her hand to her sister as they slapped their hands. “I was wondering when you were finally going to check her,” Sara said.

“I’m so sorry about her behavior, Cara. I’m going to send her back home,” Mercury told her with regret swirling in his eyes.

“You don’t have to do that. I’m sure she won’t be a problem anymore.”

Everyone stared at Cara in disbelief. I thought for sure she would be one hundred percent behind Nicole being sent home.

“Are you sure?” Mercury asked.

“Yup. You two can go back to the hotel. Since Danny doesn’t know anything, we’re going to have to dig a little deeper.”

Danny still had his eyes on Cara. He was barely blinking. If he didn’t get it together, I feared for his safety. Viper looked ready to slit his throat. Sara noticed it as well and quickly ushered Danny and Mercury out of the clubhouse. When she came back, she asked the question I’m sure everyone was thinking.

“Why did you tell him to let Nicole stay?”

“Did you see how Danny was looking at me? With Nicole gone, I know he would have tried to make a move. Viper will kill him, and my man is far too fine to be in an orange jumpsuit,” Cara replied.

They shared a laugh as Viper came over and took a seat beside her on the couch before pulling her into his lap. Hestarted saying something in her ear that made her squirm. She slapped the back of her hand to his chest then pulled away and turned to me.

“Do you still have your husband’s devices?”

“You mean like his laptop and phone?” I asked and she nodded. “Yeah, they’re in a box at the top of my closet.”

“Okay, I’m going to charter my dad’s plane to fly you out and bring you back. I need to go through his devices to see if I can find anything.”

My mouth dropped open. “Your dad has a plane?”

“Yeah,” Cara responded, as if it wasn’t a big deal. “And I’m sending some of the guys to go with you. Before you try and argue, don’t. With everything going on, we need to play this safe until we figure out who is behind this.

“Okay, when do I leave?”

“Now.”

Cara wasn’t playing around. We left the clubhouse and went straight to the airport, where we boarded a private plane that was waiting for us. It was absolutely stunning with cream leather seats and couches. There was a dining table on one side that seated six. In front of the couches, there was a television mounted to the wall. There was also a private room at the back of the plane with a bed, another television, and a bathroom with a shower.

I wanted to ask what Cara’s dad did for a living because I knew the plane had to cost an insane amount of money.

It wasn’t surprising that Capone was along for the trip. In addition, we had Ink, Tech, Bear, and Storm tagging along with us. Bear was the stoic type. He didn’t say much. Storm and Inkwere another story. They had been grinning at Capone and me this entire time.

We were currently in a van that Cara had arranged to pick us up from the airport and I could feel their eyes on me from behind.
