She moaned when I took her bottom lip into my mouth and nibbled. After I’d gotten my fill, I pulled away. Giovanna leaned forward, not ready to be done.

“Luca,” she whined, grabbing my arm to try to pull me back.

“Giovanna,” I said with amusement.

“What?”

“Something’s burning.”

Her eyes popped open and the lust was gone. “Oh crap. The chicken.” She scurried to the oven to pull the pan out. When she removed the foil, revealing the chicken that was a few minutes from being burned to a crisp, I chuckled.

“Guess we’re going to the clubhouse for dinner tonight.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. Just know you’re no longer allowed in here when I’m cooking.”

“Whatever you say, Sugar.”

I walked away, smiling from ear to ear. Even though we hadn’t talked about her moving here, it was moments like this that let me know she was already considering it. There have been several times she referred to my home as hers. Soon enough, it would be.

All I had to do was keep showing her she was meant to be mine. Life with her was perfect and I’d do whatever it took to keep her.

Chapter Seventeen

GIOVANNA

Today, my stomach was a ball of nerves. It was the day of Asha’s interrogation. When Capone came home from work the other day and told me Cara had gotten permission for me to tag along, I didn’t have to think about it. I still stood firm on the fact that I wanted to see this entire thing through. Just because I had Gabi back, that didn’t mean it was over.

I wanted Asha to pay for the things she had done.

Regardless of Derek not being the best husband or father, he didn’t deserve to die.

Once the flight landed, we were pressed for time. The flight had been delayed twice due to weather conditions. I had just enough time to drop Gabi off with my mom before we made our way to STF headquarters.

My mom flew in specifically to watch Gabi while I watched the interrogation. Gabi was so excited to see my mom waiting for her on the porch. As soon as her feet hit the ground, she shot off like a rocket. Despite my mother living in another state, she held a large presence in my daughter’s life.

I didn’t have time to introduce Capone to my mother, but I knew we could do that once we came back. She tried getting aglimpse of Capone, but like I said, we were pressed for time. I promised to let her meet him when we returned.

I wasn’t the least bit surprised that Viper and Bear tagged along for the trip. I’d spent enough time at the clubhouse to know all the guys with Ol’ Ladies were extremely protective. I knew there was no way those two would let Cara and Sara travel to another state without them.

As we pulled through the gates at the headquarters, Capone reached over and grabbed my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. This man had become a true support system for me. He was everything I didn’t know I needed. Sometimes, I felt like only he had the power to relax and soothe me the way he did.

There was just something about his presence alone. It was so dominating. When he was around, I didn’t think twice about submitting and allowing him to lead.

When the van came to a stop, we all began to exit the vehicle. We made our way inside and we were quickly escorted to the elevators by a secretary. Once I heard the ding, alerting us the ride was over, I took a deep breath. I knew that in just a few minutes, I would be sitting in a room, watching Cara and Sara question Derek’s mistress.

As soon as Cara and Sara stepped foot off the elevator, the room was filled with cheers from the agents. They quickly swarmed them with handshakes and hugs. You could tell they were missed around here. Mercury approached the large crowd with a proud smile as he made his way through the sea of people.

“Alright, everyone, I know you all are probably glad to have them back, even if it's just for a day, but they're here to do a job. Let's get back to work.”

The crowd dispersed and Mercury began to lead us through the halls. He ushered us into a dark room with a one-way mirror. Asha was on the other side, sitting at a table with whom I assumed was her lawyer.

“So, what’s going to be your approach when you get in there?” Mercury asked Cara and Sara.

“We plan on getting a rise out of her to the point where she snaps and confesses. Asha somehow feels slighted after Derek left her, so while I’ll be reminding her of her heartbreak and how she didn’t matter, Sara will pretend to sympathize with her,” Cara said as she clipped the badge Mercury gave her onto her suit jacket.

“So, you’re basically going to go with the classic good cop, bad cop?”

“It’s a classic for a reason.” Sara shrugged and clipped her badge on as well. They gave their men a kiss before grabbing the files off the table and leaving the room. Fifteen seconds later, Cara and Sara walked through the door. I saw Asha tense as Cara and Sara took a seat at the table. After a quick introduction, Cara jumped right into it.
