Nora faced the girl Sara was talking to. “Is that true, Iris? Were you in on this?”
“No!” she shouted immediately. “I didn’t say anything because Allegra said there wouldn’t be any problems, but then I started watching her, and that’s when I came and got you.”
“I’m confused as to what could be a problem. None of us has seen this girl a day in our lives,” Cara spoke up.
Iris swallowed, pulling at the hem of her shirt. “Jamie is Allegra’s cousin.”
That girl was like a bad infection that wouldn’t go away. Her sister had already been dragged by a truck, trying to defendJamie’s honor, and now her cousin was foolishly doing the same thing.
I didn’t understand women like this. I wouldn’t beg or chase no man to be with me. I certainly wouldn’t harass his girlfriend because he didn’t want me.
For Allegra to clearly know who I was and intentionally inflict pain on me, all because her delusional-ass cousin was mad, had me fuming inside. When I got out of here, Luca and I would be having a long talk.
I already had to deal with one scorned lover, and I refused to deal with another. He needed to get Jamie and all her little minions in check.
“Are you serious? You did all this over a relationship that’s not even yours?!” I hissed. I stood toe-to-toe with Allegra, ready to inflict some pain of my own. I wasn’t a violent person, but at this moment, I was pissed, and I felt violated.
“Wait, what’s going on?” Nora questioned in confusion.
“Jamie is a woman my boyfriend used to deal with. She’s been causing me nothing but problems since the moment she found out about me, and now it seems your employee is doing the same.”
Nora didn’t even need to question if it was true. The glare Allegra was sending my way was all the answer she needed.
“Girl, you better fix your face before I help you do it,” Crystal threatened.
“That is not fair, Mama. How are you going to tell me that if I enact any violence today, there would be severe consequences, but then you do it?” Cara asked, frowning at her mother, appearing betrayed.
Crystal pinned Cara with a look that made her snap her mouth closed. A few of the Ol’ Ladies shook their heads, giggling.
Nora turned to me, and I could see the remorse in her eyes. “I am so sorry about all of this. This is not the way I conduct mybusiness.” Facing Allegra, she said, “You’re fired. Clear out your locker. This was unprofessional on so many levels.”
“What?! I’m the best nail tech you have!”
“Part of being the best is being professional. Leave, Allegra.”
Everyone’s mouth dropped open as we watched Allegra hock up saliva and spit in Nora’s face. “Fuck you, Nora!” Allegra screamed and stomped away.
“Are you kidding me?!” Nora shrieked, wiping the spit from her face.
“Umm, is that all you’re going to do? Lady, you are better than me. I would be beating her ass like a drum.” Cara shook her head. “Maybe you’re not much of a fighter. I got a stun gun if you want to use it.”
Nora looked at Cara sheepishly. “No, that’s alright. Karma will get her in the end.”
“Oh, go get her? Bet. You ain’t got to tell me twice.” Cara got up from her chair and started to go up the hall that Allegra had disappeared down.
“Cara, what the hell are you doing? This lady didn’t tell you to do a damn thing,” Bianca said in between laughs.
“She said Karma will get her. Helllloooo. That’s me in the flesh.”
Everyone burst into laughter, including Nora and her employees. Little did they know, Cara was dead serious.
What a hell of a spa day.
After the drama died down,Nora promised to give us half off the next time we decided to reserve the spa. Everyone agreed to come back. Outside of the drama with Allegra, we had a good time. There was no need to let one bad apple spoil the bunch.
I had just left the spa, and despite the bullshit I had been through, I was still in a good mood. That was until I noticed a black SUV following me. Ever since Gabi got snatched, and Cara told me how Asha had followed me that entire day, I always watched my rearview mirror now.
I tapped the screen in my car and dialed Luca’s number. Right as he picked up, the SUV sped up and slammed into the back of my car. “LUCA!” I screamed in fear.
