My feet moved before I could comprehend what was going on. I didn’t want to take the chance of her actually shooting me out of frustration. Once I made it around the counter, she grabbed the back of my shirt and ushered me out the back door.

Wyatt was sprawled out on the ground with a deep gash on his forehead.

“Wyatt!” I cried as I tried to kneel and help him.

Jamie violently shook me. “Nu-uh! Let’s go!”

She practically had to drag me away as I fought to get to Wyatt. The slam of the gun against the back of my head ceased my fight. Everything started spinning. I was struggling to move my legs. That didn’t seem to deter Jamie as she seemingly had the strength of three men.

She led me to the same SUV that ran me off the road. The front bumper had noticeable damage.

“Now, I’m going to need you to take a little nap for our little ride.”

Before I could protest, I felt a stinging pain in my neck, and the world as I knew it went black.

“This is it,Jamie. Don’t fuck it up. All we have to do is get rid of her, and Capone is ours.”

I stirred awake at the sound of Jamie’s rambling. I kept my breathing pattern normal. I didn’t need her knowing I was awake.

“It’s all her fault. He was mine. Mine!”

I could hear her footsteps right in front of me. She was pacing the floor. Something was clearly wrong with this girl. This was beyond obsession at this point. She was convincing herself that I was the problem. Being married to an agent, I learned how most scenarios played out. In this situation, I knew it would only be a matter of time before Jamie killed me. The only hope I had was the tracker bracelet I had on my wrist.

Capone gave this to me the night Jamie tried running me off the road. I didn’t know how long I’d been out, but surely Levi had returned to the bakery by now to discover what had happened. The only problem was where exactly was I and how long it would take for Capone to get to me? I could be long gone by the time he found me.

“Ugh, why is she still sleeping?” I heard Jamie ask.

My body stiffened unintentionally.

Jamie laughed deviously. “Playing possum, are we?”

The jig was up. I blinked my eyes before staring up at her. I didn’t say a word. The crazed look in her eyes let me know thisgirl was a loose cannon. Anything little thing could make her pull the trigger.

I took the time to look around and noticed we were in a barn. It looked like it was abandoned, but clearly Jamie had been living in this dump. There was a dirty mattress in the corner, littered with wrappers of food. The windows had been boarded up, and there was only one way in and out.

“Nothing to say?” she questioned with a smirk. “It’s okay. You don’t have to say anything. After tonight, you’ll be a distant memory, and I’ll have my man back.”

“You think you’re going to get away with this?”

I knew I shouldn’t engage, but I also needed to stall her.

“I sure am. Once the sun goes down, I’m going to put a bullet in your head and bury you in the woods. Once you’re out of the picture, Capone will finally see that I am the woman for him.”

She smiled brightly, sending a chill down my spine. She meant every word.

I didn’t know where Luca was, but I hoped he was close. My life depended on it.

CAPONE

I couldn’t believewhat was happening. One second, I was making amends with my father, and the next, I was hauling ass to the clubhouse. Jamie had lost her fuckin’ mind. After attacking Wyatt from behind, she took Giovanna. The cameras had already been installed at the bakery, so when Levi returned from the store, it didn’t take long for Cara to figure out what had happened.

My father tried pressing me for answers when I left in a rush. I didn’t have time to answer his questions. After telling him I would call when I could, I left without a backward glance.

Once I had arrived at the clubhouse, the guys were all waiting on the bikes for me. We didn’t bother with any conversation. We had Giovanna’s location and that was all that was needed.

Jamie had a forty-five-minute head start on us. She was still on the move. It looked like she was taking Giovanna deep into the country. There wasn’t much out where she was headed. That made me nervous. Being in the middle of nowhere meant no witnesses.

I had to get to Giovanna before Jamie could execute whatever crazy plan she had doctored up in her head.
